Du Bin was seething with anger. In three long strides, he closed the distance, bent down, and hoisted Zhou Jiayan completely over his shoulder.

“Du Bin, what are you doing! Put me down! You bastard!”

No matter how much the young lady flailed and kicked, the tall bodyguard stood immovable, carrying her on one shoulder and dragging her enormous suitcase with the other hand.

He strode to Zhou Jiayan’s car, fished the car keys from her pocket, unlocked the door, and dumped her in the passenger seat.

“Du Bin, what do you think you’re doing!”

Ignoring her protests, Du Bin placed the suitcase in the trunk, got into the driver’s seat, and started the engine.

“I’m taking you to the old house. Zhou Jiayan, I have work to report to your brother. I don’t have time to argue with you. As for you trying to sneak out to meet Li Mingyi—forget about it.”

Zhou Jiayan retorted furiously, “Who says I’m going to see Li Mingyi? What’s he ever done to you? You’ve only met him twice, and the last time was at the old house. What mortal enmity could there possibly be? Besides, what’s wrong with me seeing him? Li Mingyi was my senior in high school, my college mate. Why shouldn’t I be allowed to see him?”

Du Bin slammed on the accelerator. The well-tuned Porsche SUV shot forward, scaring Zhou Jiayan into hastily fastening her seatbelt.

“Du Bin, are you insane? Slow down! What’s your problem with Li Mingyi? You lunatic! What if I do want to have a drink with him—what’s it to you!”

After a few minutes of high-speed driving, the Porsche executed a sharp drift and came to a stop at a temporary parking spot by the roadside.

Du Bin unfastened his seatbelt and leaned his broad chest over.

“Du Bin, you—mmph…”

Zhou Jiayan had no chance to dodge; her mouth was abruptly silenced.

“Mmm—mm!”

The pampered young lady was no match for a battle-hardened soldier; her resistance was not only futile, but in his eyes, it was almost endearing.

How could someone kiss this well…?

The feisty young lady, all teeth and claws just moments ago, was soon swept away by the commanding kiss, her thoughts scattering in disarray. When she finally came to her senses, her hand was already resting on his firm chest.

Du Bin, breathing heavily, finally lifted his lips from hers, a long silvery thread connecting them. “You’re not allowed to see him.”

The blaze of anger in Zhou Jiayan’s head faded in an instant. She wrapped her arms around Du Bin’s neck, refusing to let him go. “So jealous… mmph…”

Du Bin pressed down again, kissing her even deeper and harder, binding her so that escape was impossible.

…So this is what a kiss can feel like. What am I going to do? I like it so much…

After quite some time, Du Bin, clinging to the last shreds of his self-control, pulled away from her lips, his voice hoarse and dry, his eyes red.

“You’re not to see him. His intentions aren’t pure.”

Zhou Jiayan wrapped one arm around Du Bin’s neck and teasingly ran a finger along his jaw, her gaze smoldering with allure. “He’s up to no good, but you’re a saint?”

He caught her mischievous hand, kissed it, and guided it downward to a source of heat, his eyes burning with restraint.

“My intentions are good, but this disagrees,” he said.

The sudden heat made Zhou Jiayan shiver; her body grew warm as memories of his astonishing strength and breadth flashed through her mind. Her lower abdomen tightened, and even her words faltered. “You… you really are… Is there something wrong with you?”

A large hand clamped onto her waist, and Du Bin, voice deep with desire, asked, “Still want to go?”

“Go where?”

“Li Mingyi.”

“…I was going to the old house to keep Jiang Zao company anyway.”

Du Bin paused, not the least bit embarrassed by his misunderstanding. He nodded, returned to his seat, started the car, and kept hold of Zhou Jiayan’s hand as he drove.

Zhou Jiayan grew flustered. “What are you doing? Where are we going?”

He turned a corner; ahead was a resort villa.

The villa belonged to the Zhou family, with a winery and farm on the grounds, as well as a shooting range. Some parts were open to the public to cover expenses, but most of it remained the Zhou family’s private domain.

Since Zhou Lichuan’s recovery, he occasionally sent Du Bin to fetch wine from the villa, so Du Bin was well acquainted with the staff there.

He parked in front of a detached cottage. Each villa had its own small courtyard, nestled amid beautiful scenery, with the farm selling local goods.

He led Zhou Jiayan out of the car, took a key from his pocket, and opened the door.

The moment they entered, before she could even change her shoes, he pressed her up against the door and captured her questioning lips in a fierce, urgent kiss.

With a thousand questions on her mind, Zhou Jiayan found herself unable to utter a single one; her thoughts were scrambled into a stew by his invading tongue. There was no time to resist—she lost all sense of time and place…

Two hours later.

Zhou Jiayan, covered in red marks, lay sprawled on the huge bed, wailing, “Du Bin, you’re not human!”

Having washed up, the freshly dressed bodyguard emerged from the bathroom, buttoned his shirt, and looked down at the naked Zhou Jiayan wrapped in blankets on the bed. His heart softened. He sat on the edge, scooped her up, blanket and all, cradling her as if she were a swaddled infant.

He kissed her gently on the forehead. “Are you tired?”

Zhou Jiayan slumped her head, collapsing against his chest. “Exhausted! Are you part ox or something?”

Du Bin stroked her flowing hair and murmured, “Your brother is in a bit of a hurry. How about I wash you up and take you back to the old house?”

Zhou Jiayan paid no mind to that. She grabbed Du Bin’s collar and bit his Adam’s apple. “Who’s more important, me or my brother? Do you even have a heart?”

Du Bin winced from the pain and tightened his hold around her. “Then how about I stay with you a little longer? Make you something to eat? Or you could spend the night here and go back tomorrow.”

Zhou Jiayan withdrew her claws. “I’m worried. Meng Qiaoyuan’s been busy lately and can’t visit often. Jiang Zao is staying with the elders alone—it’s not convenient.”

Seeing her so docile, Du Bin couldn’t resist kissing her again. “You’ve worked hard, Miss. I’ll go run a bath for you.”

“No, don’t. I’ll just rinse off in a bit. Just hold me a little longer.”

They sat quietly on the bed, wrapped in each other’s arms.

Suddenly, Zhou Jiayan looked up. “How do you have the key to the villa?”

Du Bin replied, “It was a year-end bonus from your brother.”

“That’s wonderful. I want one too, but he never gives me anything.”

Du Bin laughed. “You can have mine—there are six keys in total. The deed is in the study cabinet.”

Zhou Jiayan snuggled closer, smiling. “No way, it’s yours. You earned it, and you should keep it.”

The tender moment lasted only so long before Zhou Jiayan suddenly remembered something. “That time you picked me up from Li Mingyi’s bar—did you two get into a fight? Otherwise, why are you acting like this? You scared me to death.”

Du Bin kissed her again. “He carried you upstairs to the lounge and tried to take off your clothes. I caught him and gave him a beating.”

Zhou Jiayan smacked him. “I threw up on myself. He was helping me clean up. How did that become ‘taking off my clothes’ in your head? Not everyone’s like you—one little gesture and you’re all over me.”

Du Bin was unmoved. “It’s still not acceptable. He definitely had bad intentions. Wasn’t our first time together because you were drunk?”

Zhou Jiayan didn’t want to hear that. She broke free from his hold, jumped out of bed naked, and shouted, “I’ve told you a million times! I wasn’t drunk that night! I did it on purpose! I wanted to mess with you and get you to stay away from me, so I wouldn’t have to listen to my brother monitor me every day! And what did you do? You sent me straight to my brother’s house! I haven’t even settled that score with you yet!”

Du Bin quickly wrapped the blanket around her. Her fair skin was dazzling, and he knew if he looked any longer, he wouldn’t be able to leave tonight.
