Chapter 150: Let's Play Sugar Daddy Too
Jiang Zao looked up at the sky. Such magnificent spring weather was indeed not to be wasted.
"Alright, let's coordinate our schedules and see when everyone is free so we can go together."
...
With Jiang Zao's tacit approval, the very first thing Li Baixiu did was to place a call to the rumored "President Ma."
Once he obtained Liang Qingxuan's contact information, he directly invited her over to his apartment near the campus.
To avoid the dormitory's scheduled power outages and bed checks, he had always maintained a stable residence outside. Although it was rented, fortunately, it provided him with a private space of his own.
Liang Qingxuan had mentally prepared herself for a long time, but no matter what, she never expected this kind of scene when she saw Li Baixiu again.
Li Baixiu was dressed impeccably in a white top and black cargo pants, accessorized with a silver necklace.
His hair, unstyled by hair wax, fell softly and straight down, resting against his forehead. A simple silver hoop hung from his ear—judging by the position, it was likely a decorative ear cuff.
This was worlds apart from the image of the ruthless "President Li" she had envisioned in her mind. He looked entirely like a youthful and vibrant college student.
On the coffee table in front of the sofa sat a box-shaped object covered with a silk scarf, completely concealing whatever was hidden underneath.
"Hello, President Li."
Liang Qingxuan walked forward slowly and came to a stop beside Li Baixiu's legs.
Li Baixiu rested his elbow on the armrest and looked up at her. She had clearly dressed up meticulously before coming here: an exquisite, girlish-style dress and high heels paired with light makeup, which elevated her delicate and innocent allure to a whole new level.
"You're here. Sit down."
Liang Qingxuan glanced around the small living room. The only place to sit was the sofa beneath Li Baixiu, but with his long legs planted firmly in front of it, he showed no intention of making room for her.
Li Baixiu patted his own thigh. "Sit here."
A faint blush crept onto Liang Qingxuan's ears, and she obediently sat down on his lap.
"President Li, President Ma said you were looking for me for something."
Under the sunlight, Liang Qingxuan's skin was fair and translucent, sitting there so submissively she seemed almost ethereal.
He gently touched her slightly pink earlobe and caught the almost imperceptible flinch, a trace of a smile blooming across his face.
"I've prepared a gift for you. Take a look."
Li Baixiu lifted the silk scarf from the coffee table, revealing a brand-C luxury handbag. Resting on top of the bag was a thin stack of A4 paper, containing about three or four pages of text.
"This is..."
Liang Qingxuan looked utterly bewildered.
"A gift for you. Bring it over and see if you like it."
Under Li Baixiu's gaze, she slowly picked up the sheet of A4 paper. The moment her eyes scanned the words written upon it, she shuddered instantly.
This was unequivocally a kept-woman agreement!
"President Li! I... I didn't think it would be like this, truly..."
Li Baixiu chuckled. "I think you're quite decent, and your look is very much to my taste. Those two agreements you signed with President Ma—I'll handle them for you. As long as you sign this, you will be my person from now on, and no one will dare to do anything to you."
Of course, Liang Qingxuan didn't doubt his words, but... she still had the capacity to maneuver around President Ma. Li Baixiu, on the other hand, was deep and ruthless; staying by his side would surely bring her no good fortune.
"President Li, I am truly not worthy of such high regard from you. If you have any needs, I can come over at any time, but as for this agreement..."
With one hand pressing against her waist and the other pinning her wrist, Li Baixiu whispered like a demon right beside her ear: "Do you think... you have a choice? Sign it, and I can at least guarantee that your career will be smooth sailing. I heard you only have a college diploma; I can even arrange for you to pursue a master's degree while you're still filming. How about it? That's quite a profitable deal."
Liang Qingxuan's eyes shifted rapidly as she weighed countless future possibilities within a matter of seconds.
Li Baixiu leaned back against the sofa once more, his gaze resembling that of someone looking at trash. "I'll give you half a minute. After you sign it, go to the bathroom, take a shower, wash off all the makeup on your face and the perfume on your body, come out, change into the clothes prepared by the bathroom door, and go out with me. The female lead of the drama you've been working so hard on will be yours."
With that, without leaving Liang Qingxuan any room for refusal, he pulled her up, set her aside, and walked into his study to start typing his thesis on the computer.
Professor Jiang had criticized him for being a whole stage slower than the other students; if he didn't speed up and catch up now, he wouldn't make next week's pre-defense.
Li Baixiu didn't give Liang Qingxuan any extra time to hesitate. Half an hour later, the young woman—having washed away all her adornments—softly knocked on the study door.
Li Baixiu sat at his desk and looked up at her.
She wore a white T-shirt featuring a cat-paw print paired with simple jeans, and droplets of water still clung to the untried tips of her hair—the epitome of an innocent student.
However, she had already been immersed in the entertainment industry for a long time; no matter how plainly she dressed, that genuine student-like shyness was gone.
She no longer wished to put up a front. The imposing aura she carried as she stood at the doorway completely broke away from the image of the innocent white lotus she had projected when first entering the room.
Spinning his chair around, Li Baixiu said leisurely, "I know what you're thinking. President Ma is all bark and no bite, just an empty vessel—he's very easy to manipulate. But following me won't necessarily result in you getting the short end of the stick. Congratulations on choosing the best path."
"Why me?"
A hot shower had shocked her awake, making her realize that this pie dropping from the sky perhaps wasn't solely targeted at her beauty.
"You look a lot like an older sister of mine." Li Baixiu continued to spin his chair, playing with it idly. "Her appearance is by no means inferior to yours; in fact, she is even more striking. She is also an exceptionally formidable painter, and her methods and worldly wisdom are top-tier. Yet, the two of you are also completely different. She appears frail and non-aggressive simply because she couldn't be bothered to waste her energy on trivial matters. As for you, you do it for much more practical things."
"Mrs. Zhou?" Liang Qingxuan probed cautiously.
*Whoosh!* A dart flew right past her ear and embedded itself straight into the target hanging on the door behind her.
"Questions you shouldn't ask. Keep your mouth shut."
Li Baixiu's voice was fraught with murderous intent.
How exalted was Jiang Zao? She was not someone just anyone could casually probe into.
Liang Qingxuan had never witnessed such a display before; frightened into place, she froze and dared not move again.
Li Baixiu stood up and straightened his collar. "I won't touch you. You just need to work for me and earn money for me. I will protect your career and ensure it goes smoothly. Externally, you will play the role of my dodder vine and my shield in the romance department. Understood?"
Staring fixedly at the floor, Liang Qingxuan said softly, "Understood, President Li."
Li Baixiu unclipped the ear cuff from his ear and tossed it beside the computer. "Let's go. First, come home with me to pick up some things, and after dinner, I'll take you to learn shooting. You'll meet someone at the shooting range. Cozy up to them and dig up some information for me."
...
