Chapter 57: Plans and Surprises
"Gao Ning just sent out the coordinates. He wants to meet up. Should we go?"
In a high-end hotel somewhere in Australia, Liang Bing tapped calmly on her laptop as she spoke.
Grandma Liu was watering flowers on the balcony. Upon hearing this, she asked, "What did he say?"
"He says he's found a newcomer, someone rather odd. He wants to discuss it with us. He also claims to have cleared a path—now we can enter the Bliss Space directly through upstream channels. He wants us to hurry and join him."
Grandma Liu chuckled. "That young Gao is really something. Last time, he was the one who found us, and now he's a step ahead again."
"Whether it's true or not remains to be seen," Liang Bing replied coolly.
Grandma Liu shook her head. "It's good to be cautious about people's motives, but there's no need to be on guard all the time. Just keep it in mind. Bing, your temperament is too cold—otherwise, you'd have been married off ages ago!"
"Should we proceed with our plan?"
"Why not? It's rare to summon such an interesting corpse, and it even carries a zombie virus. Though the effect isn't strong, it's worth a try!"
Liang Bing said, "We only have three chances at most, and if we're discovered, the Bliss Space could be sealed off for a long time. Completing the mission then would become a distant hope."
"You worry too much. Days will pass one at a time. Does it matter where you spend them? Since the Bliss Space is a station, it can't possibly leave Earth. The universal medical pod sits there, waiting for us. It's only a matter of time before we get it, so don't be anxious—just keep your mind at ease."
As she spoke, Grandma Liu set the watering can down and casually took a seat on the sofa, picking up her half-knit sweater and working at it stitch by stitch.
Watching this grandmother, whose kindness radiated from her every gesture, Liang Bing couldn't help but twitch her lips.
This was her mandatory mission trial; she had to complete it, or she'd be stuck in this world forever.
Although time stopped inside the mysterious train, and their bodies were reset each time they returned, their flesh would still age in the mission world as time passed.
It wasn't a major issue, but the relentless pressure was unsettling.
Grandma Liu, however, seemed utterly unconcerned, even enjoying the slow passage of time.
Liang Bing shook her head; this wasn't the first time. Except for the Biohazard mission—where they had to race against time to escape Raccoon City—Grandma Liu treated every other task with indifference.
Liang Bing found this hard to understand.
The power of time currency, she must have experienced it. Did she not want to accumulate more, to witness the landscapes and customs of different worlds?
Even improving her family's life in the real world would be a fine choice.
Actually, this mission wasn't difficult; they could loaf from start to finish. As long as their butterfly wings didn't disturb the plot, the protagonist would eventually send the universal medical pod to Earth.
Seizing it then would be effortless.
But to prevent such easy outcomes, the mysterious train always deployed antagonists in each mission.
Antagonists were there to disrupt the story, sometimes even tasked with eliminating the protagonist.
So, a pie falling from the sky was impossible.
Grandma Liu understood this, which is why she devised a plan with Liang Bing.
"The earliest spaceship leaves in three days," Liang Bing said. "Coordinates have been sent. Tickets cost a hundred thousand dollars—I paid half already."
Grandma Liu nodded. "This time, our joint control won't leave any flaws. Luckily, when we returned last time, we spent some time currency to upgrade our skills a bit.
Now I can control skin. I thought it would be used for disguise, but it turns out blocking the virus is more useful."
Grandma Liu smiled, set her knitting aside, and got up. "It's about time. I'm going out to walk the dog!"
Liang Bing cautioned, "Don't go too far. This is a luxury hotel, but there are too many eyes around. A careless moment and you could be kidnapped.
I looked into it—there have been nine kidnappings this month, and the police seem unfazed. It shows crimes against the rich are never-ending!"
"Don't worry. I'm just an old lady; who's going to bother me?"
Grandma Liu waved her hand, pulled a little white Chihuahua from its cage, and strolled out with a smile.
Liang Bing shook her head and continued practicing hacking skills from a textbook.
After two years spent in the exclusive carriage, her hacking skills had grown from nothing to expert level.
Before acquiring her powers, this was her only valuable skill.
Now, in a world with advanced computers, she couldn't let the new knowledge slip by.
Ever since sacrificing her family, Liang Bing had bought numerous books on computers, always learning.
If Grandma Liu hadn't suddenly called asking for help, she might still be holed up at home, studying day and night.
Liang Bing felt little attachment to the real world.
Her entrepreneurial success brought financial freedom, but also a shattered family.
She felt not love, but a twisted hatred for her relatives.
Though she never showed it, Liang Bing was enjoying her life as a transmigrator.
She enjoyed experiencing different cultures, participating in movie plots, completing missions, and even the forbidden thrill of sacrificing her family.
To continue this journey, she had to grow stronger. Hacking was the first step.
Behind the hotel lay a sizable lawn. Grandma Liu walked her little dog unhurriedly.
Suddenly, the Chihuahua tripped over itself and fell flat.
It looked up sharply, eyes wide, and shouted, "Hell is empty; the devils walk among us!"
To Grandma Liu's astonishment, a female ghost emerged from the dog's body.
Ignoring the old lady, the ghost floated into the air and surveyed the area.
"No," she muttered, then extended a sharp finger, poised to strike.
The Chihuahua quickly jumped aside, crying, "That can't be right! Look at the surroundings!"
"Luxury hotel!"
With a swipe, the lawn was slashed. The dog rolled away, protesting, "Enough! You've killed me over five hundred times, even sent me down the sewer thirty times, but I've never entered the Bliss Space. The method must be wrong!"
The female ghost's face remained blank. She raised her hand again. "Your suspicion is reasonable. Let me try thirty more times here."
The Chihuahua howled; the ghost soared, ready for battle. Suddenly, both froze and looked at Grandma Liu.
"Something's off. She's too calm."
"Kill!"
A flash of cold light, and a head fell.
