Chapter 80: Never Try to Fathom a Woman's Heart
The light flicked on, and the tall figure of Wangchuan appeared. It was as if what illuminated the entire room was not the lamp, but him.
“Master!” I rushed out at once, barely able to hold back my tears.
But before the tears could fall, I was suddenly yanked back by the short chain around my neck—caught halfway, and crashed to the floor with a loud smack.
How embarrassing!
Wiping my eyes, I sat on the carpet like an indignant child, thumping it hard.
“Where did you go? It’s so dark here! Why did you lock me up?”
It didn’t even feel like I was talking to Wangchuan; more like I was complaining to myself. If I didn’t say it out loud, the feeling of frustration would gnaw at me inside.
“If you told me you missed your master in another way, I’d be happier.”
Wangchuan’s steady voice betrayed neither joy nor anger. He sat at the edge of the bed and beckoned me over.
My chain was just long enough to reach him, so without thinking, I hugged his leg.
“Master, I missed you…” I sniffled, feeling pitifully weak.
He pinched my cheek and smiled.
“I had something to take care of. I was afraid you’d get bored and wander off.”
“But you should have told me!” My nose twitched in grievance.
“I called you, and you said you didn’t want to get up. I said: Then I’ll lock you up. You said: Okay.”
Wangchuan recounted, with a hint of mischievous glee, what had happened before he left.
“Uh…” I pouted and smacked his leg. “But you really did lock me up!”
I was nearly frightened out of my wits, and he didn’t even think to make the chain longer!
Besides, this was obviously just his twisted excuse! Even if he didn’t want me to go out, he could have locked the doors and windows, or left a note telling me not to leave!
But instead, he chose to lock me up!
“If you keep smacking, you can forget about getting up.”
I was about to hit him again, but instantly tucked my hand away, pretending to be pitiful.
“Master… I’m a person, I shouldn’t be tethered… And besides, it’s dogs that are leashed, not cats…”
I fumbled for reasons to defend myself, rambling on.
Wangchuan watched me lazily and replied with four words: “But I like it.”
“I—!” The words caught in my throat.
Pervert! Freak! Monster!
A current shot through my collar, punishing me for insulting my master!
I never understood how the collar always knew when I was cursing Wangchuan, but he clearly knew what I was thinking whenever it shocked me.
He nudged me with his foot. “Do you want to spend the rest of your life under the bed?”
“No! I want to be on top!”
Hearing such a terrifying threat, I hugged Wangchuan’s leg even tighter.
Of course I believed he’d actually do as he said! After all… he already had once!
---
“Alright, you’ll be on top.” He dragged the chain and pulled me onto the bed, holding me in his arms.
At first, I was thrilled—Wangchuan agreed so quickly this time? But soon I realized I’d been tricked by the sly old fox again; my waist was practically breaking!
Yet in the end, he did not forgive me. No matter how much I whined and tossed about, he only watched me with a smiling gaze.
Finally, the chain moved from the floor to the bed, lengthened a little, and my range of movement was reduced to the bed and a ring of carpet.
For three whole days, Wangchuan would leave every morning when I woke up, return at night, play with me until we were tired, and then sleep with me in his arms.
This gave me the illusion—I had really become a domesticated pet, waiting every day for my keeper to return.
Heaven knows, as soon as I woke, I’d stare at the door, waiting for Wangchuan to enter and call out.
And—more humiliating still—on the first day, he fed me a huge glass of milk, hardly tormented me, just watched me drink, kissed me, and praised me for being good.
In the end, he even placed a cute little bowl beside me, telling me to eat whenever I was hungry!
I hesitated for a long time, really.
It felt as if, with one lick, I’d never be human again.
But in the end, hunger overcame me, and I licked.
To my surprise, without Wangchuan feeding me, it didn’t feel as good, but I hadn’t fully turned into a cat.
Lying on the carpet, I wondered, had I not changed?
Why, as I drank milk from the bowl, was I thinking about how it felt when Wangchuan fed me?
A bit depressed, I missed my master.
This melancholy made me rethink myself. Too much had happened these days—including my transformation from Wangchuan’s cat to his woman.
Uh… though I’m not exactly sure if that’s what I am.
Am I his woman? Or still his cat?
Only then did I realize, by instinct, I was resting my head on my hand, stretching my legs behind me, swinging my tail and ears.
Fine… I’m a cat, not a woman.
But—who would always be intimate with a cat? Flirt with it?
I couldn’t make sense of it; my mood remained low, until Wangchuan returned. All my wild thoughts vanished, and I excitedly pounced on him, rubbed up against him, licked his hand, cuddled and kissed him, then told him how much I missed him.
It seems I’ve crossed species—from cat to dog.
But it doesn’t matter; what matters is, he likes it.
A few days later, he brought me loads of new clothes, apparently tailored to my current figure!
Looking at the beautiful clothes, I was speechless. Pretty as they were… I collapsed onto the pile, wailing.
“Master—boo hoo, I wanted to ask you to make me prettier too… How did you get the clothes made so quickly, without even consulting me!”
I pouted, saw Wangchuan smile again, then he scooped me up like a child, wrapping me in his arms.
“No matter how pretty you become, it’s your soul I see, and that’s what I love.”
“Really?”
Suddenly, I felt my cheeks flush—was he speaking sweet nothings?
From that day on, I had clothes to wear; the small chain on my collar was unfastened, and he allowed me out for walks, even permitted me to visit Xiaoyun and the others for a chat.
I asked, didn’t he need me to cook anymore?
Wangchuan’s face darkened, saying there was no need for me to cook; he’d already found several kittens to take care of our meals.
---
Then he said: I only need to manage his after-dinner entertainment.
Flip the table! Who’s going to manage mine?
But what truly made me happy was regaining my freedom, clothes, trousers, and underwear!
Even more delightful, Wangchuan agreed that when I went out, I could appear as a normal person, and only transform into a half-cat when I returned!
This was immense news for me! But the result was, learning to switch forms nearly broke my back!
Work, work, work! Every day, apart from after-dinner entertainment, he played nothing else!
But my dear master ate three meals a day, and “entertained” me more than thrice daily!
He nearly treated me as a toy.
This life ended with a negotiation.
“Master, I want to talk to you.”
I sat seriously beside him.
“Alright.”
To my surprise, Wangchuan was just as serious as I was.
“We can’t go on like this every day. You’re a fierce beast, with endless stamina, but I’m not.”
“Mm.”
“I get tired, truly, my bones ache, everything hurts.”
“Mm.”
“So could we maybe slow down a bit? Give me a little breathing room?”
“Alright.”
And so the conversation ended.
Wangchuan went out, leaving me at home.
I went out, seeking out Xiaoyun and the others for a chat.
To my surprise, I learned that my master had been leaving the crevice every day lately to handle some matters.
Xiaoyun said he might leave again, as lately all the kittens were on high alert, though no one knew why.
I was out of the loop; I’d gone from guardian cat to bed guardian, so—all I could do was listen to Xiaoyun.
After a few days, Wangchuan was indeed busy during the day, and at night, he only held me to sleep, no more after-dinner entertainment!
A few more days passed, and he still did nothing, not even touch me!
I regretted it.
Women really are troublesome creatures—even I thought so.
Until I could no longer endure, torn between worrying he’d leave me and craving his intimacy.
So, the day Wangchuan returned, I quietly took a bath, wrapped myself up like a spring roll, and ran to him with a smile.
“Master, shall we have some after-dinner exercise?”
