Chapter 107: He Is My Own Child
With a smack, my bottom was swatted. Then, my whole body was tipped over onto the bed.
"Are you being fierce with me?"
"Yes—fierce with you..."
I had already begun to tremble. Though my mouth was stubborn, my body's reaction was to instinctively burrow into his arms. Wangchuan looked at me like this, seemingly losing his temper, and sighed. He pulled me close and patted my back.
"She planted something inside that would harm the soul. If the soul is damaged, it cannot bear offspring. If I hadn't used spirit bindings to restrain it at that time, perhaps..."
He didn't continue, looking somewhat irritated. He suppressed his emotions, trying to keep his words as gentle as possible.
"Then, right now..."
I was a bit dazed, unable to process it. If he hadn't used spirit bindings on the child, the consequence would have been... that the child would have died for me?
A tremor ran through my mind. No mother could tolerate such a thing! The fury rising in my chest was an inferno I could not extinguish! At that moment, I wanted to tear Rebecca limb from limb! How could such a disgusting person exist in this world? Sending her to that forest was a gift from the gods! If it were up to me, I would have her die over and over again!
Watching me like this, Wangchuan sighed again. "I told you not to let you know. Look at you, you can't control your own emotions."
"Aren't you angry?!" I muffled my voice against him, wanting to cry again!
"Getting angry while pregnant—the cub has a bad temper and bites people. Do you want to deal with that?" Smiling, Wangchuan leaned down and kissed me.
"Uh..." I was left dizzy by the sudden kiss, an image of a snarling little beast appearing in my head. Not only was the kiss sudden, but at the moment the little beast appeared, I felt so happy.
"As for your weakened soul, I will nurture it slowly." He pressed against my lips, his whispers full of... love.
That single sentence left me so moved I couldn't speak. Then, I was pulled into exercise by this sleepless "big cat," who insisted on me being on top. Punished, punished, punished—what kind of punishment is this? Why not just admit he wanted it!
I worked away with a flushed face, feeling quite proud. This feeling was truly amazing. I finally understood why Wangchuan always tortured me, taking such pleasure in watching me fall apart. I had recently learned to torture him, too; I would move just slightly, and watching him bite his lips in desperate impatience, reaching out to pull me closer, made me feel truly satisfied!
To have a partner who is so satisfied with one's body—what a proud thing that is! Especially with a "big cat" who is so hard to satisfy! I am amazing!
With this excited mood, we finished in a state of collapse. I was carried to the bath by Wangchuan, waited on like a pet while he dried me off, and then carried back. I—I really seemed to have been spoiled rotten.
To be honest, it all happened so fast. In the span of a few months, I had suddenly become Wangchuan's wife. From initially peeping on them while they were mating for the sake of a fetal soul, to becoming a guardian cat, getting caught up in trouble, and now lying by his side. Honestly, Rebecca deserved much of the credit. If it weren't for her constant interference, Wangchuan might never have noticed me to this extent. That was how I had the chance to go from being his cat to being his lover. Rebecca witnessed what it meant to reap what one sows, and along the way, she helped act as a grand matchmaker for me.
My gratitude? I'll let the vultures in the forest repay her... drink up her bad blood! Eat her bad flesh!
After cursing to myself in anger for a while, I finally calmed down, grateful that the little cub was still here, and grateful that Wangchuan belonged to me. Although he still acted like a master, teasing me whenever he could, making me feel like his cat, our roles seemed to have shifted. Wangchuan now seemed to dote on me more, and he was working hard to spoil me in a human way.
Thinking of this, I nestled happily in his arms, smiling to myself, and eventually drifted off to sleep in the warmth.
Soon, Wangchuan faced his second soul-shaping. I had become an idle cat, and because of the pregnancy, my position as a guardian cat—like Xiaomi's—was completely stripped away and replaced by a new kitten. Because Rebecca had entered the forest, no one dared to mention her anymore. I figured the reason Wangchuan didn't tell me was not only to keep me from getting involved but also because he feared I would be angry if I knew. But after the anger passed, it was over; not seeing her for a while, I had effectively forgotten her.
In my idle days, I would sunbathe with Xiaomi, looking enviously at her large belly. Today was Wangchuan's soul-shaping, and I had intentionally turned into my cat form early in the morning and ran out, not daring to bring it up, trying my best to forget it. The worry was actually a lingering fear from last time. The last time the soul-shaping failed, Wangchuan's body stayed cold for a long time, only recovering recently. I had asked about it, and he said that eating me was a great tonic. I had only recently discovered that Wangchuan wasn't a man who never lied, but a cunning one who would lead questions astray. So, asking him was useless. I thought about it myself: when Wangchuan kissed me these past few days, there hadn't been that hot feeling in my belly, so maybe he hadn't been transferring his vital energy to me? So he was recovering himself?
But I was full of vigor, feeling stronger by the day. If he was willing to go without giving me his vital energy, it meant he had a backup plan. I pondered it left and right and decided it had to be related to that "spring water slushie"—he said it was rich in spiritual energy! Ever since I finished it, I felt more energetic every day, and I didn't feel tired even when I was running around causing trouble! My nightly fun with the big cat didn't leave me feeling like I was being led around by his endless stamina; instead, I was able to keep up! Life was super happy!
The only thing I was worried about was, well, still Wangchuan's soul-shaping. Even though I was sunbathing with Xiaomi, watching her belly move incessantly, my thoughts drifted toward the Yinluo Palace. There wasn't a sound from that direction, and if I weren't afraid of making Wangchuan worry, I would have wanted to sneak in and take a look. But this kind of thing is like getting an injection; it's scary to look, and it's scary not to. It was truly nerve-wracking.
Before long, a massive, beast-like roar came from the direction of the Yinluo Palace—deafening! My heart almost jumped out of my chest! I stared blankly, barely daring to breathe! It wasn't until Wangchuan appeared with a smile at the base of the platform where I was sunbathing, extending his hands to signal for me to jump down, that I realized! I leaped into his arms, full of joy! He looked even more radiant than he had a few days ago!
"Master!" I happily stretched my claws, using my wet nose to kiss his chin.
"Hmm." Wangchuan stroked my head and turned to carry me back.
"I missed you!" I climbed up him, extending my claws to pat his chin.
"I know." He pinched my leg, as if afraid I would slip.
"Did you miss me?"
"Hmm."
"Do you love me?"
"Hmm."
"Why are you only popping out a few words at a time?"
"You'll know when we get back."
I looked at him with great curiosity, wondering happily if there was a little surprise waiting for me back home! But it wasn't until we returned that I realized. It turned out that when he said he loved me, he really meant it! He expressed it so fiercely that even when I was in the bathtub, I couldn't move!
Touching his burning chest, I suddenly realized something. A while ago, he was sometimes intense, but mostly he was gentle. I had thought he had become gentler, or that he was being careful of the cub in my belly and didn't dare to use too much force. Now I knew that this guy was simply injured a few days ago, and now he was still craving more! Poor me, my legs felt shaky just trying to walk.
I wanted to talk to him about it, but I was afraid of being shelved like last time. So I changed my approach, leaning against him and asking softly, "Master, shouldn't we stop the mating?"
"Why?"
"Look, the cub is in my belly now. If he knows he has a father as fierce as a wolf or a tiger, will he be unhappy?"
"Why would he be unhappy?"
"Because you don't look out for him. Maybe, being shaken around like this all the time, he'll get motion sickness."
"Haha..." Wangchuan pulled me close. "He is my cub. You look at me, and you know what he is like. Why worry?"
In my mind, the image of the snarling, roaring little beast appeared again, healthy and powerfully terrifying. Just as I was thinking about it, I was pulled down by Wangchuan again, a burning kiss blocking my lips, and then he laughed.
"How about we shake one more time? Maybe the little cub likes it!"
I was looking at him with a shy face, just about to nod, when I heard a loud boom outside! An explosion! Wangchuan quickly pulled the quilt over me! And I, I looked at the outside in terror!
What happened?!
