Chapter 102: The Most Absurd Wedding in History
Before Wangchuan could speak, a voice rang out—Pei Mu wasn't eating the cake at all! Instead, he had grabbed a megaphone and was back on the stage, singing at the top of his lungs:
"Oh, my Chuan! My great Chuan! You are so handsome—you are so gentle—your eyes are the greatest, most spicy thing in my life—"
*Thwack!* With a single kick, Wangchuan sent Pei Mu sprawling. I didn't even see how Wangchuan had moved; I only saw the veins bulging on his forehead. It was clear that Wangchuan had reached the absolute limit of his patience!
"I’m reporting you to the authorities! You’ve actually assaulted the host and officiant!" Pei Mu raised a hand, clamoring for attention.
"There is no need for you to host anymore. Just lie there and officiate from the floor."
"Ouch!" Pei Mu let out a miserable shriek, apparently in too much pain to get up, and began crawling around the stage like a bug. As he crawled, he kept whimpering: "My Chuan—my—"
*Crack!* This time it wasn't Wangchuan's doing. Pei Mu, in his excitement, accidentally tumbled into a gap in the wooden stage platform and got stuck! With his legs kicking in the air, a muffled voice wailed from below: "Chuan! Save me!"
Wangchuan didn't react, but I noticed another man, also dressed in red, walk up to Wangchuan and start whispering to him. They discussed something for a long while; Wangchuan shook his head, and the man looked utterly perplexed.
Hearing voices, Pei Mu shouted again: "Butt! Save me!"
The man glanced at Pei Mu, who was currently wedged into the floor, and proceeded to stomp firmly on his crotch several times!
*Duang—Duang—Duang!*
Pei Mu shrieked while cursing: "I tell you, Big Butt! Sss—the Qilin bloodline will not end with me! I wish you a hundred sons and a thousand grandsons! Ouch!"
The farce finally drew to a close. The man known as "Butt"—who looked nothing like one—walked away with a completely expressionless face. I felt a twinge of fear; why did I feel like a mere bystander?
Still, Wangchuan looked so handsome... I had always seen him in those archaic robes, but today he had put on a suit. A black wedding jacket with a white shirt and a red tie. Pinned to the tie was a children's "LOVE" brooch... well, that was obviously Pei Mu's handiwork. Wangchuan had no idea how a wedding was supposed to work, so he must have asked Pei Mu to arrange it. And that guy Pei Mu always loved to stir up trouble; he couldn't even leave Wangchuan's tie alone.
But I had to admit—beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Seeing Wangchuan like this, I suddenly swallowed hard, longing to kiss him...
Around us, there were all sorts of monster cries. The creatures were swarming the various cakes; some looked human, but their eyes held the predatory glint of beasts. Were these demons or immortals? It was impossible to tell at a glance. There were many cakes and some exquisite-looking dishes, but those seemed beneath their notice; they were all fixated on the beautifully decorated, multi-layered cakes! Nearby, a few kittens holding small sticks stood guard—if anyone dared to sneak a taste with their claws, they would immediately get a whack as a warning.
I covered my mouth and giggled at the chaotic scene, only to hear Wangchuan call my name.
I rushed over to him. The stage was a bit high, so he reached out, grabbed my hand, and pulled me up. Before I could say a word, he pulled me into his arms.
"Are you willing to marry me?" he asked.
I was so breathless I could barely function, nodding frantically!
"After we marry, can I give birth to little Qiongqi?"
I nodded, then shook my head. Seeing his puzzled expression, I quickly explained, "I'll give birth to them even if we don't marry!"
"You really are a shameless little white cat." He pinched my cheek, kissed my lips, and whispered into my ear, "But I like it. You're so obedient."
My face flushed red, and I wanted to retort, but I realized that even though he said that, I was so happy I felt like I could fly! To bear little Qiongqi! I never thought I’d have such an opportunity! And he had actually taken my words seriously and gone to all this trouble to hold a wedding just to marry me!
As Wangchuan’s soft, lingering kiss landed on my lips, the crowd below erupted into cheers!
"Oh, oh, oh—time to eat!" The massive crowd rushed toward the various cakes and began to feast!
"This—" I was stunned.
"They're just a bunch of gluttons, don't pay them any mind." He smiled, then stroked my neck. "The wedding is over. You're mine now."
I stomped my foot in surprise. "How is it over so fast?"
"That's not the point. The point is, the wedding was fun. We can play this game more often."
"Play?" I scoffed. "Who gets married over and over again!"
"You don't like it?" Wangchuan looked puzzled.
I suppose even though this big cat had followed my instructions to learn about weddings, he hadn't quite grasped the intent. Then again, who could expect an ancient monster to truly understand a wedding? Though it was a chaotic mess, it had all the essential elements, and I knew he must have put a lot of effort into it.
I smiled, wrapped my arms around his neck, pulled him down to me, and pressed my lips to his, whispering happily to myself. "I like it, but I’d prefer it if you only ever got married once—and only to me."
"In the future, it will be only with you, too." Wangchuan smiled, looking like a child. In that moment, his gentleness was almost startling. My heart swelled. Did that mean from now on, I was the only one? That the thirteen thousand others didn't count anymore?!
The sudden rush of happiness made me grin from ear to ear! I laughed at Wangchuan's bluntness, and I laughed at the bizarre wedding he had thrown for me! But that was the benefit of having low emotional intelligence—while I couldn't control his high IQ, his EQ was something I could definitely work with!
Deeply moved, I continued to kiss him. "Just once with me is enough."
Ever since that last experience, I had come to realize that he wasn't human, so why should he follow human customs? I never expected to marry him, nor did I think Wangchuan would actually give me a wedding. Having this one was more than enough for a lifetime. And the fact that he meant he would only ever marry me? What more could a wife ask for!
The immortal beasts that had come from the immortal realms seemed like they had never tasted human cake before; they were fighting over it like wild animals! Some had even shifted into their strange original forms, rolling around in the cakes and happily licking the cream off their fur. Others were trying to bite the balloons, and after getting a shock when they popped, they just kept going, chasing the helium balloons around like excited dogs!
Watching these beasts—which Wangchuan called gluttons—I laughed until my face felt stiff! No matter how messy the wedding was, I was truly happy!
And so, the wedding ended with the host/officiant trapped under the floorboards and the venue chewed to pieces. Wangchuan carried me back to Chongye Palace and sat me on the bed. I started to lament—my wedding had passed by far too quickly! Was that it? A bunch of dim-witted beasts causing a ruckus for an hour, and my wedding was over? It only happens once in a lifetime... *sob*... it was like a thunderclap; my brain hadn't even processed it yet!
Wangchuan took off his outer robe, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and tugged at his tie, complaining, "Human clothes are so hard to wear. They're so uncomfortable."
I looked at him, wanting to say that he looked so handsome in a suit and that I wanted to see him in it more often. As he pulled off his tie, he let out a long sigh of relief, as if he had been stifled for ages. The next moment, the bed dipped, and I was pinned down.
Wangchuan looked me up and down, admiring the little dress I was wearing instead of a traditional wedding gown. "But the female's clothes are much better. I should consider having more made."
He looked at me with the eyes of a starving wolf, as if he were about to swallow me whole.
"Wait, wait—" I quickly blocked his eager kiss. "What's the rush?"
"I want you." The statement was blunt, as always, without any pretense.
"I want to ask—from now on, are you my husband or my master?"
"Both." He didn't wait for more, leaning in to kiss me, his hands already beginning to wander.
"Wait again!" I blocked his hand as it moved up my waist. "Then—what about the punishment you mentioned?!"
Seeming a bit annoyed, Wangchuan grabbed me firmly and kissed me again. "The punishment is that you're going to stay home and bear my cubs!"
