Chapter 142 Who is High Above?
The emergence of this consciousness made it extremely excited, as it discovered that it had the ability to create living beings. Consequently, it opened more and more holes across its own body, and an increasing number of consciousnesses began to manifest.
It was very happy and deeply enjoyed the joy of creating life. Therefore, it dug holes in itself day and night, until more and more holes appeared. Suddenly, one day, it found that its entire body was riddled with holes, densely packed right next to each other in countless numbers, leaving no vacant space left to open any new ones.
Thus, it wanted to make its body even more colossal, and it frantically absorbed the Primordial Chaos Qi. As it absorbed the Primordial Chaos Qi, it continued to carve out more holes and nurture more living beings. It seemed addicted and simply could not stop.
With the proliferation of those holes, the number of living beings also grew steadily. Suddenly, one day, a certain consciousness felt that there was too much life within its own body, to the extent that it began to threaten its own safety. Therefore, without seeking permission, this consciousness completely destroyed all the life forms within itself.
This action infuriated the main entity, which promptly destroyed that consciousness as well, sealing up the hollow where it resided. That consciousness vanished.
This act instilled a sense of threat in the consciousnesses of the other hollows, and they all tried to break away from it. However, the results were far from satisfactory, for it was simply too powerful. The energy of all the hollow consciousnesses originated entirely from it. Without its consent, the other consciousnesses could not break free. Thus, an unknown period passed until its growth finally reached its limit, and there was no longer any Primordial Chaos Qi left in space for it to absorb. It stopped growing and ceased opening new hollows. Looking back at the countless hollows covering its body, it was very satisfied with its creation; every single hollow teemed with life, vibrant, bustling, and colorful.
When it felt utmost boredom, the consciousness of one hollow said to it: You are the Creator, the origin of this world, and naturally destined to rule over everything. We are all willing to revere you as the Sovereign and honor you as the Lord of the World.
It was overjoyed and truly began to consider itself the Lord of the World. Possessing the mentality of a master, it began to manage these hollow consciousnesses, compelling them to acknowledge it as the world's sovereign, while restricting their growth and regulating their behaviors.
Although it was immensely powerful and served as the source of power for all hollow consciousnesses, not all consciousnesses submitted to it. Many consciousnesses colluded and conspired together, choosing an opportune moment to collectively break away from its body while also stripping away a portion of its foundational origin power.
In this manner, the entity known as the World Tree lost a part of its foundation. No one knew where those escaped hollow consciousnesses went, leaving behind only what we now call the Myriad Worlds and a lingering, struggling World Tree.
Those hollows are the individual worlds, and the consciousnesses born within them are the World Wills.
Master Sheng asked, "Did you understand?"
Wang Li cursed inwardly: Understand my ass!
Speaking in riddles for so long, who could possibly make sense of it?
Yet outwardly, Wang Li was very honest. Taking a roundabout approach, he flattered, "Your words are like an initiation that instantly clears the mind. Master Sheng, your insights are truly visionary, like a blazing sun melting the ice and snow of confusion in my heart..."
"Speak human!"
Master Sheng barked, "Flattery too laid on easily ends up kicking you in the face! Don't come here trying to disgust Master Sheng, or you'll be in for a miserable time!"
Wang Li hastily replied, "Actually, there are still some parts I don't understand. Could you please enlighten me? That should be fine, right?"
"You brat are truly lacking in sincerity; you don't respect your elders at heart. But Master Sheng has already passed the age of wanting to contend for superiority, so I will reluctantly explain it to you."
Master Sheng projected a massive illusion within Wang Li's newly recovering spirit.
Atop the projection stood a towering and colossal tree. Stretching from top to bottom, one could neither see the sky nor locate where its high crown resided. Clinging to its branches, trunk, and roots were densely packed bubbles, and within each bubble countless faint stars shimmered.
This was the World Tree.
"This is my abstract representation of the World Tree's structure. Those bubbles are individual small worlds, and their quantity is fixed, adhering to the World Tree."
Master Sheng pointed to a few of the bubbles and said, "You can see that these strange bubbles are not of the same size. Those smaller worlds appeared later. The larger bubbles were born earlier and have had a longer developmental period, making the worlds they formed larger and more complete. This is called the first-mover advantage.
These worlds are very ancient, and many appeared in the first or second batches. At that time, the World Tree was not as crowded as it is now, and there was no consciousness to manage these World Wills, so these large worlds underwent long periods of unrestricted growth, making their internal structures much more stable and their power ceilings much higher."
"The living beings born in these worlds soon began to explore the mysteries of the universe. Some powerful beings, through various means, learned of the World Tree's existence."
"The World Tree restricts the growth of the worlds, and those large and small worlds likewise restrict the growth of the living beings within them. Under this double restriction, there is always a limit to the growth of living beings. Consequently, some powerful beings attempted to break free from the world's control and establish a direct connection with the World Tree.
Those who can achieve this are known as the Great Luo Golden Immortals. They can easily tear apart the spatial barriers of any world, rendering space and time meaningless to them. One might say they are truly immortal beings, representing the ultimate limit of living power.
However, they do not represent the absolute ultimate of power, because they have not yet completed communication with the World Tree. Those who complete communication with the World Tree are the so-called Hunyuan Wuji Saints. They can directly obtain Primordial Chaos Qi from the World Tree, and the acquired Primordial Chaos Qi can be used to reshape their native worlds, allowing those worlds to grow better and faster, or to forge their own personal worlds as saints."
Wang Li asked in puzzlement, "Then what is a Divine Kingdom? From what you mean, it sounds like even a Golden Immortal can forge their own Divine Kingdom?"
Master Sheng replied, "A Divine Kingdom is merely a small world carved out by a cultivator using their own power. Calling it a small world is not entirely accurate; a more precise description is a space with imperfect laws."
Wang Li speculated, "Since the laws are imperfect, it's impossible for the Divine Kingdom to form a complete energy cycle, which is why that newcomer is plotting against the Reincarnation Dao of the Tianxuan World, intending to steal a complete set of reincarnation laws to perfect its own Divine Kingdom?"
"You could say that." Master Sheng said with disdain, "However, doing so is a completely foolish act of putting the cart before the horse. Primordial Chaos Qi is the fundamental base. That's why I said that newcomer has something wrong with its brain—ignoring the countless innate primordial chaos bodies in the Tianxuan World that cannot grow on their own, and instead voluntarily serving itself up as food for the World Will, hehe."
"Who is that supreme being high above?"
Wang Li suddenly asked an abrupt and seemingly disconnected question.
