Chapter 93: The Werewolves' Raid
Whoosh.
The roar of the flushing toilet echoed through the bathroom, as if it were carrying away every unpleasant memory.
Serafina pushed open the frosted-glass door, her small silk-clad feet stepping onto the warm anti-slip mat.
She rose onto her toes under a gold-trimmed faucet and washed her hands, and the reflection in the mirror showed her head hanging low in dejection.
Serafina patted her cheeks, then bared a mischievous grin in the mirror, her two tiny fangs gleaming like pearls in the light.
“Isn’t that true? If Lord Feng truly wanted me dead, he could simply ignore me—why waste all that effort to put on such a drama?” Lin Chen had by then regained his calm and was slowly piecing it all together.
On the surface floor of the base, werewolves in black armor were herding the super-soldiers moving about inside toward the clearing, gathering them in one place.
Shen Chuan had never imagined that after arriving in Shengjing, the first gamble he’d ever made with his life would be on Gu Jingfeng.
“And now, you understand the Lin family’s condition. Without the support of our Lingyun Corporation, no one would have saved you. In that case, your Lin clan is surely doomed to bankruptcy,” Zhang San continued, his expression unchanged.
“All right then—let this be our roaring, all-out charge, to stand together in life and death, with no regret!” Leao immediately held out his hand and spoke to everyone.
Once she had made her decision, Mifia drew forth the Phantom Harp and began to play the score in reverse, starting from the back.
“What about Shanghai?” Master Long asked again, but seeing the look on the other man’s face, he looked disappointed once more.
“Huh? Green blood! No wonder it looked so green,” Qianxun said with a wry remark, then dropped a drop of the other man’s blood into the contract.
For the whole incident, Chu Yuanqiao had taken no part in it. From beginning to end, he had only gone along with the rehearsal, bringing Hu Feng to the scene where the trouble occurred.
According to Yu Ni, Chu Yuanqiao was not to be dragged into it, and his identity must not be exposed.
At that moment, the sign on the bathroom floor reading “Cleaning in Progress” suddenly moved by itself. It drifted silently to the bathroom door and came to rest there; immediately a cold gust blew through, and the door quietly shut.
Lin Xiaoxiao took a deep breath and let it out, deciding not to argue with him further over that topic and thereby avoid needless trouble.
“Where are you from?” A large ginger cat was squatting at the doorway. When it saw me appear, it held itself like a sovereign above all under heaven and let out a rough, drawn-out “mew.”
“But, but I...” At the window, Yan Qing spoke sadly, watching the outside in silence, truly unable to understand why, after her amnesia, she had become so sentimental.
She refocused her attention on Zhan Junyu’s face and caught his wickedly alluring smile; her heart lurched.
“Yes, Young Master,” the respectful black-clad subordinate replied. “According to the chief steward’s investigation, that night the servant of the side courtyard seemed to have sensed…”
BOOM! A strike craft more than three hundred meters long crashed down, its landing point less than ten meters to the left of Xiong Qi. As if the anti-gravity system had been forgotten, the ship kicked up such a cloud of dust on impact that Xiong Qi, who had been trying to look imposing, coughed from it.
In the end, Sun Ming’s business about wanting to attend cram school never reached Aunt Lin’s ears—partly because Lin Father could not become master of the Sun household, partly because of Sun Ming’s desperate pleading, and partly because of the Sun family’s circumstances.
But Xiong Qi frowned. He was unarmed now, with nothing that could threaten a mech. How was he to complete the mission Eve had given him?
Okka, waiting quietly for an answer, was pleased to see that the Piket chieftain before him was unlike those crude and stupid barbarians. He was steady and calm, and possessed considerable political wisdom; in his restrained eyes, calculation and weighing never ceased.
As Ye Shaobei’s blood surged violently within him, his potential value kept climbing, showing no sign of stopping.
