Chapter 152: The Owner of the Mirror
Several figures dashed into the beam of light, and Night Demon scanned the crowd. Suddenly, three figures broke into his line of sight. As they ascended higher, those three silhouettes vanished from view, causing Night Demon to smile with delight.
A burst of brilliant light struck, prompting Night Demon to shield his eyes. Once accustomed, he carefully examined everything around him, unable to suppress his admiration.
“Is this the world inside the palace?” he murmured.
At that moment, a voice called out, “Night Demon, I’ve been waiting for you. Please come into the pavilion for a chat.”
Surveying the surroundings, Night Demon saw a small pavilion by a pond adorned with blooming lotuses. As he approached, a woman’s figure appeared within the pavilion.
He stepped forward and bowed respectfully, “Young Night Demon thanks you, senior, for your repeated assistance.”
With a sigh, the woman turned around. Night Demon was momentarily entranced by the incomparable beauty before him.
“You are his disciple. Helping you is only right. But the entire human race will depend on you in the future. Your path is uncertain to me.”
“Senior’s kindness is overwhelming. I am not so capable,” Night Demon replied humbly.
The woman smiled faintly, her gaze fixed on Night Demon. “Night Demon, I’ve called you here privately because I have a matter that needs your help.”
“Please speak, senior. I will do my utmost.”
The woman nodded approvingly. “This inheritance was built for my disciple, but time is not on our side. I prematurely unleashed the inheritance palace. However, she cannot yet safely receive the legacy; she needs your aid.”
“I understand, Night Demon. But I don’t know who she is, nor how I should assist her.”
A mysterious smile played on her lips. “You know her. I will send you to her now. She is in trouble and requires your help.”
Night Demon nodded. As the woman waved her hands, Night Demon vanished from the pavilion.
“I wish I could do more to help you all. The future now rests on you few,” the woman said before dissipating.
Night Demon descended upon a mountain valley, where the sounds of a fierce battle reached his ears.
“Little beauty, yield to us, or your lovely face will be marred and lose its charm!”
“You scoundrels, even if I die, I will never let you succeed.”
Hearing the voice, Night Demon hurried forward and leapt down, shouting loudly, “Senior sister, don’t be afraid, I’m here to help you!”
Xiao Xiao recognized the voice as familiar but hesitated until she saw the figure before her. Tears of relief streamed down her face.
The attackers brandished weapons and glared fiercely at Night Demon. “So, you want to play hero? Get out of the way, or you’ll be next!”
Night Demon drew his Bloodshed Saber, a murderous aura enveloping him. He smiled reassuringly at Xiao Xiao before charging.
With swift movements, the attackers clutched their throats and fell unwillingly. As Night Demon sheathed his saber, Xiao Xiao ran over, wiping her tears happily.
She punched his chest playfully. “Night Demon, you scoundrel! You escaped but never told us. We worried sick and plotted to rescue you!”
Scratching his head sheepishly, Night Demon replied, “Senior sister, I didn’t mean to keep it from you. I lost all my power at the time, and with demon pursuers behind me, I had no choice but to flee the northern battlefield.”
“Alright, I forgive you. But next time, keep us posted when you’re safe!”
Changing the subject, Night Demon asked, “Senior sister, when I arrived, I saw you with senior brothers one and three. Where are they now? Why are you here alone?”
Sighing, Xiao Xiao said, “We don’t know. The light pillar scattered everyone. If not for you, I’d be in grave danger today!”
Night Demon nodded. “Oh, right. The palace’s master said you were her chosen disciple and asked me to give you this.”
Curiously, Xiao Xiao examined the mirror Night Demon handed her, flipping it over repeatedly. “What is this?”
“I’m not sure. The palace’s master helped me escape the demon clan and told me to give you this mirror. Nothing more.”
Pocketing the mirror, Xiao Xiao said, “Let’s go, Night Demon. We must find senior brothers quickly.”
Night Demon nodded. “Senior sister, to avoid unnecessary trouble, don’t call me Night Demon. Just call me Night Radiance.”
“Hmm, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll remember. Let’s hurry to reunite with the senior brothers.”
As they flew out of the valley, Xiao Xiao suddenly stopped, and Night Radiance immediately halted as well.
“What’s wrong, senior sister?”
Xiao Xiao took out the mirror, which shimmered with flowing light. Night Radiance approached and studied it alongside her but shook his head in confusion.
“Senior sister, there’s nothing here. Why are you so captivated?”
“No, Night Radiance, this mirror shows the image of anyone you think of. See, senior brothers one and three are heading in that direction!”
Hearing this, Night Radiance glanced again at the seemingly ordinary mirror, still puzzled.
“Trouble! Senior brothers are fighting someone. We must help immediately!”
Urgently, Xiao Xiao veered left, and Night Radiance followed swiftly, gripping her waist firmly.
“Senior sister, since senior brothers are in danger, guide me. I will take you there!”
Following her lead, Night Radiance spread the wings on his back and surged forward, sonic booms echoing along their path.
The wind buffeted Xiao Xiao, causing her to close her eyes. She shouted loudly, “Night Radiance, what realm have you reached to move so fast?”
Seeing her struggling, Night Radiance quickly conjured a protective shield, allowing her to open her eyes again.
“Senior sister, I have now attained the Celestial Realm!”
“Wow, little junior brother, you’ve surpassed me by so much! But hurry, junior brother! Senior brother three is about to collapse!”
Night Radiance summoned all his energy and flew faster. His figure streaked like a black lightning bolt.
As they neared the battle, the sounds grew louder. Night Radiance looked at the combatants and shook his head, quickly setting Xiao Xiao down to halt the fight.
“Night Radiance, little brother, move aside! I’m enjoying this fight!”
“Brother Yuan Chen, may I have a word?”
Night Radiance approached Peng Lei, smiling and blinking at him.
“Brothers, these two are my senior brothers. If I have offended you, please forgive them on my behalf.”
“Are you Night Demon?”
Upon hearing Peng Lei’s words, Zhao Mu hurried over, scrutinizing Night Radiance from head to toe.
