Chapter Sixty-Eight: We Are One Whole!
Yeyu effortlessly countered, swiftly dispatching a stealth-type player. Clearly, this was the advantage brought by his self-created skill talent tree. Of course, Yeyu hadn’t considered that if his final evaluation weren’t at S-rank, such an enhancement would not appear so remarkable.
At this moment, Yeyu didn’t even need to use his ancient zither to confront the remaining five opponents. Within his talent tree, the first stage included an environmental enhancement: when facing multiple hostile targets, Yeyu’s overall attributes would noticeably rise. In particular, if those targets were players, the effect would double.
Such a design was paired with the passive skill inherent to the String class, making this enhancement unique to String players. However, Yeyu had no intention of making such talent data public. Undoubtedly, this talent granted him the ability to take on six opponents at once, and even more if necessary—a formidable defense mechanism.
Originally, stealth-type players specialized in deadly, high-burst attacks and once had a fair chance to defeat Yeyu. Now, unless they could completely ignore his doubled attributes, their winning odds had diminished.
“Hmph, let’s strike together. We can’t let him succeed. It was only because that guy acted alone that he failed. If we all attack, he won’t have such an easy time,” one stealth player declared, his voice icy as he flickered behind Yeyu like a specter, warning the other four.
Yeyu narrowed his eyes, his peripheral vision catching sight of the four stealth players. He resolved to eliminate the one approaching from behind first.
As the stealth player behind him lunged forward, another figure burst from a different direction, wielding a six-foot-long spear wreathed in icy blue light. The spear thrust collided with the stealth player’s dagger, and the tremendous force sent the attacker flying.
Yeyu was momentarily stunned. Turning, he saw the familiar silhouette holding the spear, and recognized the familiar laughter. A faint smile curled his lips.
It was Huang Hong.
“Third brother, focus on the enemies before you. Leave your back to me. Let’s finish this quickly,” Huang Hong called out.
Yeyu chuckled, replying, “Can you handle it? Don’t expect me to bail you out later.”
As his words fell, Yeyu shot forward. With one stealth player already dead, his attribute bonuses dropped by twofold, yet his physical and magical defense only increased.
“What on earth is his talent? Why are his defenses still rising?”
“Let’s finish this quickly, before things get out of hand. I’ll keep the spear-user busy,” one stealth player said.
“Alright.”
Suddenly, four stealth players targeted Yeyu, while the last one engaged Huang Hong. Huang Hong frowned, clearly intending to help Yeyu by blocking another stealth player. But seeing the reassuring glance Yeyu sent him, Huang Hong understood and unleashed a terrifying aura.
Boom—
He stepped forward, spear in right hand, left hand summoning a translucent light that formed a giant shield, which knocked the attacking stealth player aside. Famous for their explosive, deadly attacks, the stealth player’s collision forced Huang Hong back a step, but he swept his spear sideways, the crescent-shaped shadow slicing into the retreating foe, draining half his health instantly.
Seizing the opportunity, Huang Hong leaped, crashing his shield into the stealth player, instantly wiping out the remaining health.
Boom—
The stealth player shrieked as he was smashed against a rock wall, dying on the spot.
Huang Hong quickly turned to look at Yeyu, who was surrounded by four attackers. Despite their relentless assaults, Yeyu’s expression was calm and serene. No matter how they attacked, Yeyu evaded skillfully, and even when struck, the damage barely affected him.
“Get out of my way!” Huang Hong’s voice thundered. He moved beside Yeyu, his giant shield barreling into the four stealth players, knocking them aside and taking position in front of Yeyu.
“Hm?” Yeyu raised his brows, a smile appearing at his lips. Seeing this, a sense of ease bloomed in his heart. He drew his ancient zither, and four violet beams shot out.
“Light Strings, Set the Wind.”
In an instant, the four stealth players were immobilized. Huang Hong then swung his shield, smashing each one in turn with a resounding crash, stunning them all.
With the enemies incapacitated, Yeyu unleashed his skills effortlessly, launching fatal attacks at the four stealth players. Their health bars plummeted at astonishing speed.
Now, Yeyu and Huang Hong looked down at the six corpses on the ground, their lips curling into cold smiles.
“A free ride back to the city. Before you attack in the gray zone, weigh your own worth first,” Huang Hong said calmly, though the chill in his tone was unmistakable.
“Hmph, we’ll see.”
“Next time, you won’t be so lucky, Liang Ye!”
With that, the six stealth players vanished in streaks of light, evidently returning to the resurrection city.
“No wonder you were willing to cover the rear. So this is what happened. But if I hadn’t come, you might’ve been sent back to town for free,” Huang Hong teased.
Yeyu shot him a glance. “I was just testing my talent tree skills. Did you notice their attacks barely hurt me? It was nothing. You coming back like this is risky!”
“Who said Huang Hong was the only one?”
Yeyu turned, and saw the other four companions approaching, each wearing a gentle smile.
“What are you all—?” he asked, confused. Hearing their response, Yeyu’s dazed expression softened, and he smiled, nodding.
“We’re all in this together!”
