Chapter Two: Complex A1202, The Birth of a Six-Person Team
Luo Feng nodded as he listened to Ye Yu’s explanation. Luo Feng had no lack of talent when it came to games, but what he admired most was Ye Yu’s passion for pursuing a career in gaming. Before entering high school, the two brothers had dabbled in many games and played them all with remarkable skill, but there was one exception: they had never tried Divine Eclipse. The reason was simple—Ye Yu wanted to form a team, and without one, it was best not to touch this game.
“I’ve made a decent plan based on the official information provided for newcomers. I’ve also developed a basic understanding of each profession and carried out analysis and calculations. First, I mapped out the optimal routes for multitasking, listing them in a chart. Then, I eliminated tasks that take too long and offer negligible rewards—those are only worth doing when you have nothing better to do.”
Ye Yu smiled slightly, then took off his backpack, unzipped it, and handed Luo Feng a compiled and organized chart.
When Luo Feng received Ye Yu’s chart, his eyes lit up. If being good at games could be attributed to spending money and time, then the meticulous research and distilled essence of understanding a game was something Luo Feng believed only Ye Yu could achieve.
This chart was essentially a graphical tool marking out the paths, character details, and all essential data for beginners from the official Divine Eclipse map. It was, in essence, an elite version of a Divine Eclipse beginner’s guide.
“Although there may be some discrepancies with the upcoming new server, I’ve compared it with the older ones and the key points should be consistent. It serves as a reference, allowing us to have expectations and data comparisons right from the start, so we won’t be caught off guard. We can adjust efficiently and quickly.”
“Understood.” Luo Feng raised his right hand and gave Ye Yu a thumbs up—he never underestimated Ye Yu’s talent for gaming.
Ye Yu owed his formidable gaming abilities to a mentor he had met online after entering middle school. This mentor had transformed Ye Yu into a top-tier player.
In the past, Luo Feng’s gaming skills were several times better than Ye Yu’s. Even though Ye Yu was talented, he was not Luo Feng’s match. But after studying under his mentor, Ye Yu’s career took a dramatic turn, and a seed of the dream to become a professional gamer was planted in his heart.
According to Ye Yu, his mentor was once a Divine Eclipse player, had achieved much in many popular online games, and most importantly, was a student of Qingcheng University—now graduated, of course.
Under his guidance, Ye Yu’s gaming talent flourished, and within a year, Ye Yu surpassed his mentor’s achievements in many games.
Ye Yu greatly admired his mentor, who was a master of both theory and practice, combining data and gameplay seamlessly. In summary, “He played games entirely with his mind.”
Ye Yu’s mentor once told him, “I’ve played games for many years and mentored several students, but you’re the most outstanding. You’ve mastered all the essentials I passed on.”
Later, his mentor married and had children, leaving games behind.
Ye Yu knew his goal: to become famous and fulfill his dream of being a professional gamer. He wanted to leave an indelible mark in the world of online games while he was at the perfect age. Some might say it was an unorthodox pursuit, but at the very least, he wanted to prove he was here, making gaming far from meaningless.
What was the basic quality of a top-tier player in online games?
It was, above all, a clear understanding of oneself.
Ye Yu was confident he could become a player standing atop the pyramid of online gaming. Yet he knew that confidence alone wasn’t enough; he needed a grand stage and a team that shared the dream of professional gaming.
So Ye Yu didn’t just want to leave his mark alone. He chose to form a team united by the ambition of reaching the pinnacle of the online gaming world, to leave behind a legend sung by the gaming community. Thus, his first goal upon entering Qingcheng University was to become a member of Divine Eclipse, for only Divine Eclipse had the potential to help him realize his dream.
“We need a team. Do you have any ideas?”
“Qingcheng University gathers countless gaming elites. I’m sure you know that already. Forming a team isn’t difficult—the key is that everyone shares the dream of becoming a professional gamer and wants to climb to the top of the online gaming world!”
“That’s true.” With that, the two strolled into the university cafeteria. Upon entering, they were both taken aback—the cafeteria was practically four-star level, with an environment and menu selection beyond imagination.
The cafeteria had six floors: the first was mainly for breakfast and convenience stores; the second offered Chinese cuisine; the third, Western cuisine; the fourth was modeled after a high-end Chinese restaurant; the fifth, a Western restaurant; and the sixth was a five-star dining hall, with a vast selection and equally steep prices. Professors usually dined on the top floor.
No matter the floor, the choices were endless—almost impossible to count.
Both Ye Yu and Luo Feng felt exhilarated. Their wonderful university life had officially begun.
They decided to try the Chinese food on the second floor, famished after a day’s journey, and ordered a variety of dishes. Their plates were stacked almost ten high, drawing astonished looks.
“These two have eaten nearly ten meals each! How can their appetites be so huge?”
“Are they reincarnated hungry ghosts? My goodness, I’ve never seen anyone eat so much.”
“If there’s a food contest at Qingcheng University, these two could make the top three—better than the fattest students!”
On their first day, Ye Yu and Luo Feng became memorable figures for many, though they were too focused on eating to notice. They were already the subject of hot discussion on the university forum, with attention-grabbing post titles.
“Two handsome guys appear in the Qingcheng cafeteria, and their appetite is astonishing!”
Clicking in, one would see Ye Yu and Luo Feng, both strikingly handsome, devouring their food, accompanied by hilarious comments.
“The two freshmen have just arrived and experienced Qingcheng’s delicious cuisine for the first time. Their stomachs turned into bottomless pits, swallowing up the Chinese food on the second floor!”
Of course, neither of them was aware of this. After each consuming five meals, they left the cafeteria with a box of fine cocktails, heading back to the dormitory.
Ye Yu’s reason for buying the cocktails was to welcome the other four roommates and build good relations, avoiding any unimaginable disasters. Luo Feng saw it as Ye Yu’s way of getting their roommates to show them some mercy in advance.
As the two entered the dorm, they felt a cool breeze. At the central table sat four young men.
“You’re back. I was wondering how to say hello. My name is Huang Hong.” The speaker stood up, slim and with tousled black hair tied in a ponytail, wearing a white T-shirt and loose blue pants. His face sported some stubble, giving him a bit of a rogue air, but overall, he seemed quite decent.
The other three stood up as well, smiling at Ye Yu and Luo Feng.
“My name is Tan Cong,” said a young man in white clothes and shorts, wearing black-rimmed glasses, smiling warmly.
The third roommate wore a vest and beach shorts, barefoot, and waved. His crew cut was striking, but his rugged face made him look quite ordinary.
“My name is Luo Wei.”
Beside Tan Cong was a man in a blue shirt, black cropped pants, and eye-catching red flip-flops. Ye Yu and Luo Feng couldn’t help but curse inwardly—what was this?
When they finally saw his face clearly, Ye Yu’s box of cocktails fell to the floor with a loud crash.
Ye Yu and Luo Feng’s pupils dilated as they stared in disbelief at the young man before them. “Qu Zheng!”
“It’s been a long time, you two. Fate, isn’t it?” Qu Zheng smiled mischievously and waved. “Come, take a seat. Bring over your box of drinks. Hope it didn’t break when it fell—would be a waste. What a pity.”
Hearing Qu Zheng’s words, Ye Yu and Luo Feng felt a wave of embarrassment. They hadn’t expected to meet him here, let alone become roommates by such coincidence.
The six sat together. Ye Yu openly shared his ideas, and Luo Feng did the same. Qu Zheng, a gaming enthusiast who had worked hard to get into Qingcheng University, naturally supported his friends’ plans, especially after seeing Ye Yu’s Divine Eclipse guide—Ye Yu’s theory and practice were as strong as ever.
“Divine Eclipse, huh? I’m interested. Forming a team sounds good; I’m in. But don’t make me the captain—I’m not good at leading.”
Huang Hong shrugged to show his willingness to join. His main reason for getting into Qingcheng was to see what a game-focused university was really like.
“I have no objections,” said Tan Cong directly. He was eager to try Divine Eclipse, especially after seeing Ye Yu’s elite guide.
“I have no objections either,” Luo Wei smiled.
“In that case, our six-person team is officially formed!” Ye Yu laughed, raising his drink in celebration. The other five followed suit, and the six toasted together, downing their drinks in one go.
