Chapter 89: You’re Welcome to Finish Me Off
“Stop right there, kid!”
With a face full of fury, Julian Shaw swept an arm and had seven or eight lackeys surround the pair in front of him.
“Julian Shaw?” Seeing the crowd, Amelia Lane frowned. “What do you want?”
“Professor Lane, this has nothing to do with you.” Julian strode up to Ethan Cole and looked down at him with a sinister smile. “Kid, you’ve got some nerve. Which department are you from? Do you even know who I am?”
Ethan merely lifted his head and gave him a cool glance, not bothering to respond.
“Let’s go, Ethan. No need to pay them any mind.”
Amelia looked helpless. Julian was domineering on campus and had been chasing her for a long time, so of course she knew exactly why he had suddenly shown up.
Ethan, naturally too lazy to argue with a bunch of students, turned to leave.
“Stop!”
“Damn it, I told you to stop. Are you deaf?”
Julian’s expression darkened, and he blocked Ethan’s path with his broad frame.
A celebrity on campus, he held a second-degree black belt awarded personally by the Taekwondo Association. For someone as lean and unremarkable-looking as Ethan, he naturally held him in contempt.
He would not be able to swallow this rage unless he beat the man senseless.
“Julian, what are you doing?” Amelia’s face went cold as she snapped at him.
“Professor Lane, I never thought you’d be this cheap and shameless!”
Seeing that Amelia was still clinging to Ethan’s arm, the last shred of reason in Julian was swallowed by fury. He roared, “I, Julian Shaw, gave you my whole heart, and you dare betray me for some nobody?”
At that, the boys passing by all put on expressions of delighted curiosity, and some even pulled out their phones to record.
“Betray you?”
Ethan narrowed his eyes and looked down at Amelia beside him. “Your boyfriend?”
“Pah, pah, pah!” Amelia waved her hand with visible disgust, then looked at Julian with helpless annoyance. “Do I look that hungry for a man?”
“Amelia Lane, what the hell did you just say?”
Julian understood the hidden meaning in her words. His eyes turned blood-red, and he grabbed her arm. “Let go!”
“Ah!”
Amelia cried out in pain. “That hurts!”
Bang!
The next second, Julian’s body flew like a broken kite and slammed heavily into the wall beside them.
“Did your parents never teach you to respect your teachers?”
Ethan calmly withdrew his foot.
The others stood frozen in shock at the sight.
They had only seen a black blur flash before their eyes.
Then Julian Shaw, the man who could usually take on ten, had been taken down.
“B-beat him to death!”
Julian clutched his pain-racked body and struggled upright from the ground.
He had not even had the chance to fight back before being kicked flying. He had never suffered such a humiliating disgrace in his life.
Seven or eight lackeys charged at Ethan together.
They were all “members” of the school’s Taekwondo Association, and when they followed Julian around, they acted arrogantly and without restraint. When it came to fighting, they were far from timid.
But who was Ethan?
In the past, taking on a hundred men had only made him blink.
Would he take a few little punks who had never even seen the world seriously?
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
...
The students watching nearby saw only Ethan casually lift one hand, not even moving from his spot, and with a light, almost careless motion, he knocked out the three lackeys at the front.
Then he shifted his body with elegant ease, pulled Amelia into his arms with one hand, gripped one side of her hip with the other, and violently swept his right leg backward—
Bang bang bang!
In three seconds, he had kicked five times in total.
Every single lackey Julian had brought was brought down.
The sight drew cheers from the surrounding students.
Julian had a poor reputation among the boys on campus, so seeing him made a fool of brought a certain grim satisfaction to most of them.
“Get the hell out of here, all of you. Stop cluttering up the place.”
Ethan, utterly unbothered, kicked one of the lackeys in front of him hard.
“Kid, you just wait. I’ve got your face memorized!” Julian dragged himself up from the ground in pain, glaring at Ethan as he cursed, “If I don’t ruin you, I won’t be named Shaw!”
“Anytime you want to ruin me, you’re welcome to try.”
With a disdainful laugh, Ethan wrapped one arm around Amelia and walked straight past Julian.
Julian only felt his face burning hot.
This was an insult.
“Arrogant, way too damn arrogant!”
Julian struck the head of one of his lackeys hard and said, “Damn it all, I will never let him go!”
“Young Master Shaw, I’ve got an idea.”
One of the bruised and battered lackeys suddenly stepped forward cautiously. “In a few days, aren’t our Muay Thai Club and the Taekwondo Association going to join forces and challenge the Ancient Martial Arts Society? If we put some thought into it and find out which college that kid is from, then get him into the Ancient Martial Arts Society, and afterward bring in a few real fighters, wouldn’t killing him be perfectly justified?”
“Not bad, kid. You’re actually smart for once!”
Julian rubbed his aching bones, then grinned cruelly and seized the lackey by the neck. “You, call the head of our family’s bodyguards and have him investigate that bastard’s identity. I want to see who the hell dares to steal my woman. Damn it, it hurts like hell...”
“Yes, yes, of course, Young Master Shaw is wise...”
The lackeys all hurried to flatter him. Even while their faces twitched in pain, they still wore ingratiating smiles. This was all thanks to Ethan holding back because there were outsiders nearby.
If he had used a little more force, broken ribs would have been the least of their troubles.
A university is a small society. No matter how capable these lackeys were at fighting, before a rich second-generation like Julian Shaw, they still had to bow and scrape and run errands at his side.
As the crooked little group staggered away, a video quietly began spreading on the university forum, and the post’s traffic had already reached nearly a thousand views!
Its title read: “Shocking! Campus rich kid Julian Shaw gets beaten up by a commoner nobody, and the campus’s most beautiful professor, Amelia Lane, is having an affair with a student?”
...
Meanwhile.
About five minutes later, Ethan followed Amelia back to the faculty apartment where she lived.
Compared with Luna Hart’s large villa, Amelia’s place was the sort of apartment building designed especially for white-collar professionals, with two floors and about fifteen hundred square feet of space. The decor was extremely cute.
Ethan, having entered the room with Amelia, had no idea what impact that earlier scene would have on the campus uproar to come.
And Julian Shaw had no idea at all that Ethan was not even a student at this school.
