Chapter 13: Zhang Shao’s Purpose
“So, what, I’ve become your personal bodyguard now, Second Senior Sister?” Ye Fei chuckled and said, “How about you take me to buy some pepper spray first? It’s my first time at a KTV, I’m worried I won’t be able to handle those bouncers.”
“Enough with the nonsense!” Lin Qiqing snorted coldly. “I’m bringing you along just so you can see how high society operates. When we get there, don’t speak unless I allow it, and don’t act on your own, or you’ll regret it!”
“Got it, got it, Senior Sister’s the greatest in the world—I’ll listen to whatever you say!” Ye Fei didn’t dare argue, only hurriedly responded. Yet his gaze instinctively shifted to Lin Qiqing.
Under the night, his Second Senior Sister’s face held an exquisite allure, like a black rose about to bloom. The faint scent of perfume wafted from her, awakening something primal within him.
Ye Fei couldn’t help but marvel inwardly. The old man’s taste was as sharp as ever. He wondered if his other senior sisters were as breathtaking as this one—if any could compare.
His mind wandered back to last night, when he’d locked eyes with his Eighth Senior Sister in the restroom. His breath grew hot just thinking of it.
Damn! No wonder Master always said women are roses with thorns! That phrase couldn’t be more accurate!
“What are you thinking? You look awfully distracted!”
“We’re here, get out of the car!” Lin Qiqing opened the door with a swift motion.
“Heh, I was thinking about you, Senior Sister. You’re all I can think about.” Ye Fei made up a reply, earning another eye roll.
Royal KTV was arguably the largest in Hangzhou, spanning nearly two thousand square meters, catering to renowned companies and the city’s young elite. Booking a private room here was no simple matter; even the smallest suite required a minimum spend of over a hundred thousand yuan. Ordinary folk couldn’t step foot inside. It was, without a doubt, a playground for the upper crust.
Ye Fei followed his Senior Sister into the KTV, greeted by dozens of staff shouting their welcome in unison, as if he were royalty entering court.
The feeling was simply extraordinary.
“Miss Lin, you’re here!”
“Mr. Zhang and the others are waiting for you in the presidential suite.”
“Please, right this way!” In the lobby, a man who seemed to be the manager approached, beaming.
“Alright, lead the way.” Lin Qiqing nodded, her red heels clicking as she followed.
“Senior Sister, you seem pretty familiar with this place. Not your first time, huh?” Ye Fei whispered from behind, “With all these flashing lights and drinks, what if my eyes get dazzled?”
“Stop talking!” Lin Qiqing shot him a cold glance. “Once you’re inside, find a spot and stay put. I need to discuss business with Mr. Zhang. Don’t interrupt!”
“Security Ye Fei, roger!” Ye Fei gave a salute, drawing curious looks from the staff.
A dark line flickered across Lin Qiqing’s face, but she didn’t bother to react.
The manager opened the door to the presidential suite and loudly announced, “Chairwoman Lin of Eternal Group has arrived!”
Inside, several figures who’d been cheering and drinking paused, turning their gaze to Lin Qiqing.
“Qiqing, you’re finally here!”
“Mr. Zhang’s been waiting ages for you!”
“Quick, come sit!”
A young man with a sly look, dressed in a suit with a buzz cut, came forward, all flattery.
Lin Qiqing followed him to a booth, flashing a charming smile at those on the sofa.
Ye Fei stood behind, sizing up the group.
On the sofa sat three men and two young, shapely female university students. Besides the buzz cut man who’d greeted them, two others were clustered around the man in the center—a man in a pink suit—smiling and offering compliments, raising their glasses in frequent toasts.
If Ye Fei guessed right, the man in the middle must be the Mr. Zhang Lin Qiqing mentioned.
He was less handsome than Qin Feiyang, but more mature.
“Qiqing, long time no see,” Mr. Zhang said, rising to wrap an arm around Lin Qiqing’s waist. “It’s only been a few months, but you’re looking slimmer than ever.”
He openly ran his eyes over her.
Lin Qiqing seemed used to such attention. She gently brushed her hair aside, flashed a smile, and subtly slipped out of his grasp, settling onto the sofa. “When did you come to Hangzhou, Mr. Zhang? You should’ve told me in advance—I could’ve sent someone from the company to pick you up.”
“I just arrived.” Mr. Zhang grinned. “I came all the way from Yanjing just to see you. I messaged you as soon as I got off the plane. You’re late—the drinks are almost gone!”
“No matter, tonight’s on me. I’ll have the front desk bring up a bottle of Ace of Spades. Everyone can drink to their heart’s content, and the whole night’s expenses are on me!” Lin Qiqing smiled, generous as ever.
“What’s the point of Ace of Spades? We should drink the aged Maotai I brought from Yanjing. Tonight, no one leaves until they’re drunk!” Mr. Zhang waved grandly, signaling for four or five bottles of strong Maotai to be placed on the table.
“Senior Sister, we have to drive later—don’t drink too much.”
Just then.
An untimely reminder rang out.
Everyone on the sofa paused, instinctively looking at Lin Qiqing’s companion.
Ye Fei, dressed in sportswear, smiled at them.
“And who might this be?” Mr. Zhang narrowed his eyes.
Lin Qiqing frowned slightly, glared at Ye Fei to warn him off, then cleared her throat and smiled, “Oh, Mr. Zhang, I nearly forgot. This is my junior brother, just starting out in the world. I brought him to see how things work here—just ignore him.”
“Junior brother?” Mr. Zhang relaxed, though his eyes held a hint of displeasure.
Anyone with half a brain could tell Lin Qiqing brought someone along to guard against him.
But seeing Ye Fei’s scrawny build, he dismissed him entirely.
“Hi!” Ye Fei waved at everyone, looking completely harmless.
“What’s with the ‘hi’? This is Zhang Tianfeng, son of the CEO of Donghai Real Estate Group in Yanjing. Just call him Mr. Zhang—” Lin Qiqing slapped his hand away and continued, “The two next to him are Hangzhou’s famous heirs—Han Fei, Mr. Han, and Wu Qing, Mr. Wu. Both have business ties with our group.”
“Oh, I see!” Ye Fei nodded, “Gentlemen, I’m Ye Fei, working security at Eternal Group under my Senior Sister. Please guide me well!”
The moment he said “security,” everyone on the sofa couldn’t help but laugh derisively.
“Alright, enough embarrassment. Find a seat and keep quiet.” Lin Qiqing sensed the awkwardness, waved Ye Fei away, then picked up her wine glass, smiling at Mr. Zhang. “Mr. Zhang, let me offer you a toast!”
Mr. Zhang glanced at Ye Fei, but didn’t pay him much mind, fixing his gaze on Lin Qiqing.
After all, tonight’s goal was this woman, not some junior brother.
“Come on, let’s drink!”
“Mr. Zhang, about that contract—”
“Let’s not discuss business tonight, just enjoy ourselves. We can talk later.”
“Yes, Chairwoman Lin, Mr. Zhang came all this way to see you. We should have a proper party before any business talk!”
“……”
Ye Fei sat in a corner, grabbed a bottle of cocktail, and watched as his Senior Sister was quickly pressured into drinking. He shook his head.
This Mr. Zhang’s intentions were obvious to anyone.
As long as things didn’t get out of hand, Ye Fei wouldn’t interfere.
After all, it was Senior Sister’s business. If he ruined it by meddling, she’d be furious.
But before long, Ye Fei realized something was amiss!
