In an instant, Liu Dongming’s face drained of all color. Even the dullest person would have realized by now that the man standing before him, dressed in a shabby outfit, was the “junior apprentice” Chairman Lin had specifically mentioned would be starting work here.

The realization filled him with regret so intense that he slapped himself twice, the sound echoing. He hurriedly pleaded, “Chairman Lin, Chairman Lin, I failed to recognize greatness, it was my loose tongue. Please, be magnanimous and don’t hold this against me. It won’t happen again, I swear!”

Lin Qiqing’s expression was cold and indifferent. She didn’t respond to Liu Dongming, instead turning her gaze to Ye Fei. “Junior brother, how do you want to handle this?”

Ye Fei chuckled. “If people could always get away with saying ‘it won’t happen again,’ what need would there be for the police? Senior sister, you heard him just now—he told me to get out. I’ll be taking the position of head of security.”

“You?”

Lin Qiqing frowned. The head of a department wasn’t a role to be taken lightly. However, remembering that her junior brother had been brought here by their master, her concerns faded. She had also witnessed Liu Dongming’s attitude when she entered—a sycophant through and through, a type of person she despised.

With that in mind, she nodded slightly and said in a calm voice, “As of now, Liu Dongming, you’re fired. Complete your departure procedures today. Compensation for terminating your contract will be handled by the finance department. My Eternal Group has no need for bullies who prey on the weak!”

“What…”

Liu Dongming looked as if he’d been struck by lightning, his face ghostly pale and utterly lost. He turned desperately to Qin Feiyang, who was now his last hope. Clutching his leg, he cried out, “Young Master Qin, please, say a word for me! I really need this job…”

Qin Feiyang frowned. After all, Liu Dongming had been quite helpful to him—he’d played the sycophant dutifully. It wouldn’t hurt to lend him a hand.

He cleared his throat and said to Lin Qiqing, “Well… Qiqing, Old Liu and I are pretty close, and his reputation in the industry isn’t bad. Maybe don’t be so hasty in firing him? Besides, your junior brother here is new and inexperienced—making him head of security right away seems a bit much, don’t you think?”

“What business is it of yours?”

Before Lin Qiqing could respond, Ye Fei interrupted, saying, “This is a family matter between my senior sister and me. Why are you, an outsider, butting in? Get out—there’s no place for you here. If you don’t leave, I’ll have someone throw you out.”

An eye for an eye. Word for word, echoing Liu Dongming’s earlier attitude.

Qin Feiyang’s face darkened. He took a deep breath and forced a smile. “Qiqing, don’t you think I have a point?”

Lin Qiqing frowned. Although Qin Feiyang was a business partner, he was clearly overstepping. Her personality was that of a strong woman—she’d single-handedly propped up the entire Eternal Group, her word law in every matter.

And Qin Feiyang was just another spoiled rich heir.

To be dictated to by someone like him—no matter how good her temper—was intolerable.

She replied coolly, “Young Master Qin, this is an internal company matter. I don’t believe you have any authority to instruct me.”

Qin Feiyang’s eyes flashed with displeasure.

It was the first time Lin Qiqing had spoken to him so coldly. Usually, even with her reserved nature, she treated him with civility—for, after all, business was built on harmony. But now, because of a greenhorn junior apprentice, she’d lost her temper with him.

Qin Feiyang shot a venomous glance at Ye Fei, who stood there looking smug. The sight infuriated him further. He decided to blame everything on that pretty boy, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “No problem, Qiqing, you’re right—I was out of line. Handle things as you see fit. I’ve got other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

With that, he turned and left, his expression grim.

Once outside the building, he took out his phone and made a call, his voice edged with menace. “Hey, Tiger? It’s me. I need a favor—teach a young punk a lesson. Yeah, don’t kill him, just break both his legs.”

A low grunt came from the other end.

Qin Feiyang said nothing more and hung up. He glanced back toward the security department, a sinister grin twisting his lips. He muttered, “You want to play with me? A worthless nobody like you? You’ve messed with me this time, so I’ll take your legs. Next time, I won’t be so merciful!”

Inside the security office.

“Junior brother, being the head of security for a big company isn’t so easy. I’ll give you a one-month probation. If you pass, the position is yours. If not, I’ll have to find someone else. Understood?”

Lin Qiqing looked at Ye Fei’s triumphant expression and reminded him calmly.

“Thank you, senior sister!”

Ye Fei grinned, unfazed. Security guard or head of security, it was all the same to him. With his abilities, sitting in that seat would be a breeze.

“Liu Dongming, before you leave, hand over your duties. Show my junior brother how the building’s security works, the shift schedules, and so on. If you do it well, I’ll make sure HR gives you an extra severance bonus.”

“Do you understand?”

Though Lin Qiqing was cold on the outside, she was warm within. Seeing Liu Dongming so downcast, she couldn’t help but issue a last, chilly reminder.

As for his dismissal, she wouldn’t change her mind. Within Eternal Group, her word was final—she’d never go back on her decisions. Besides, she could tell all too well the connection between Liu Dongming and Qin Feiyang. If he stayed, Qin Feiyang would never stop meddling. Her junior brother wouldn’t have an easy time either; in large companies, office politics were ruthless. As fellow disciples, she couldn’t help but show some partiality.

“Yes, yes, thank you, Chairman Lin! Thank you!”

Liu Dongming nodded and bowed repeatedly, not daring to object.

Yet, no one noticed the flash of hatred in his muddied eyes.

“Senior sister, take care! I’ll be home tonight to cook!”

Ye Fei waved at the slender Lin Qiqing, thinking to himself that she was still on his side.

“You—”

“Come with me.”

“I’ll show you your ‘duties’!”

At that moment, Liu Dongming straightened up, his face dark and cold, glaring at Ye Fei’s back.

Hearing the resentment in his voice, Ye Fei gave a faint, knowing smile and said nothing.

The two of them walked to the back basketball court behind the security office.

“Every morning from ten to twelve, the security team holds fire drills here,” Liu Dongming said, pointing at the assembled security guards with a low voice. “Every afternoon, they spar.”

“Do you know what sparring is?”

Ye Fei shook his head with a smile. “What’s sparring?”

Clap, clap.

Liu Dongming clapped his hands.

At once, more than thirty security guards stopped what they were doing and ran over to him.

“You really pissed me off today,” Liu Dongming sneered, flexing his fists and signaling to the guards.

Three seconds later.

Ye Fei was surrounded so tightly that not even water could get through!

Ye Fei glanced around at the men encircling him, touched his nose, and said with a laugh, “Settling personal scores? Is this really necessary? All of you together might not even be able to take me.”

A snort of laughter escaped Liu Dongming, as if he’d just heard the world’s funniest joke. He stepped up to Ye Fei and said, “Now that your senior sister is gone, you’re just a lamb ready for slaughter. Look at these brothers of mine—most of them are ex-military or sports academy graduates. Killing you would take no time at all.”

“But we’re not planning to kill you today. All you have to do is kneel and apologize. Then go tell your senior sister you can’t handle the head of security position, and you’ll be able to walk out of here.”

“If not, you’ll be leaving for the hospital on a stretcher!”
