With an icy stare, Yu Wen Ling Xi watched as the three vanished completely. Only then did he draw back the chill surrounding him, turning a complicated gaze upon Lian Yue beneath the tree. Though she had already been struck with a sleep-acupoint strike, she still writhed restlessly in the grip of that feverish heat, and he fell into a dilemma.

The binding serpent was a creature that, though fearsome in appearance, was not actually difficult to handle. It lacked any especially powerful means of attack; aside from the swallowing and coiling common to all serpents, it had no remarkable offensive abilities and was not particularly swift. What made it terrifying was its defense.

This creature possessed, in addition to a venom sac, a lust sac, the most licentious substance between heaven and earth. The secretion from that sac, mingled with its saliva, meant that even a body impervious to all poisons could do nothing if merely touched by a single drop. One had to couple with the opposite sex within an hour, or else the entire body would ulcerate and die.

His father had truly driven matters to the extreme this time. What reason could make him so fixated on the marriage between himself and Lian Yue? Did he really think his own son could be molded from mud? Did he truly believe he cared about some position as young master or temple master? If not for this marriage bond tying him to Lian Yue, he...

Yu Wen Ling Xi leapt down from the tree and approached Lian Yue step by step. She had already begun to tear at her own dress unconsciously. Vast stretches of snowy skin were exposed to the air, her whole body radiating a seductive pink sheen.

Even the man who had always exercised formidable self-control felt the beast within him stirring awake, a blaze rising in his lower abdomen.

Yu Wen Ling Xi could clearly sense the surge of impulse in his own heart. He remained in the rain for a long while, using the cold to force down the frenzy in his body before finally stepping to Lian Yue’s side, intending to wake her. He still needed to ask for her consent first.

Lian Yue now felt as though she were lying in a sea brought to the boil by fire, wave after wave of heat striking her body, while a strange emptiness gnawed at her mind.

The moment Yu Wen Ling Xi’s cold hand touched her face, she seemed to find an outlet for that torment and unconsciously pressed herself toward it. The coolness felt wonderful, and she let out a comfortable moan.

That fateful sound instantly reignited the desire he had just barely subdued. Especially now, when her hands were clinging tightly to his and the heat from her body was being transmitted to him through those hands.

“Yue’er, wake up. Wake up.”

Lian Yue slowly opened her eyes, gasping as she pouted in a coquettish voice, “Brother Ming, the fire is burning too fiercely. It’s so hot... so hot... mm...”

That soft, sweet voice laced with breathy moans reached Yu Wen Ling Xi’s ears like a violent aphrodisiac. He forced himself to cling to the last scraps of clarity in his mind and rasped, “Yue’er, you’ve been drugged with an extremely powerful aphrodisiac. If you don’t... do that with a man or a woman, your whole body will ulcerate and you’ll die. Do you understand?”

Lian Yue felt as though she were about to burst from the heat, but through the haze she still caught the word die. With tears in her voice, she cried, “I don’t want to die. Save me... mm... Brother Ming, save me... please...”

Yu Wen Ling Xi looked at the already fogged-up, breathy Lian Yue with pity. He knew she had not understood him at all, but he could not possibly watch her die before his eyes.

Time passed by the second. If he did not dispel the drug’s effect from Lian Yue now, it would truly be too late.

Yu Wen Ling Xi drew a deep breath and, disregarding her protest, yanked his hand free from her tight grip. Trembling, he began to undress her. Watching the gradually exposed curves before him, his throat rolled continuously. Although Lian Yue’s mind was already in a daze, she faintly sensed something amiss, especially where his hand had inadvertently brushed her; it made her feel extraordinarily comfortable, and her moans grew louder and louder beyond her control.

Yu Wen Ling Xi’s desire was utterly ignited by her voice, and the swelling pressure below urged him to hurry his hands.

Then he removed his own clothes and spread them flat upon the ground. Carefully, he lifted up Lian Yue, who had been stripped bare by him, intending to lay her down atop them.

Lian Yue had finally managed to latch onto a large block of ice. How could she possibly be willing to let go? She clung to him like an octopus, and Yu Wen Ling Xi, tormented by desire, had no choice but to carry her entire body down onto the clothes beneath them.

He forcibly suppressed the surging desire that had reached its limit, removed the mask from his face and tossed it aside, then lowered his head to cover the breathless lips beneath him in a kiss. His hands also began to wander, teasing her sensitive places.

Lian Yue now felt as though she were drowning in a lake, on the verge of suffocation. The only source of air was blocked by something soft. Instinctively, she opened her mouth and extended her small tongue, trying to push it away. Yet just as her tongue prodded it twice, that soft thing drew her tongue in and tangled it with another soft thing, and the air flowed freely again. The sensation on her tongue was wonderfully pleasant.

Yu Wen Ling Xi’s reason, lingering on the edge, snapped entirely. Raising Lian Yue’s hips with both hands to meet his lower abdomen, he thrust himself in abruptly.

Lian Yue, drifting in the sea, suddenly felt a sharp pain. Her eyes flew open, and through the water she vaguely saw a familiar man with sword-like brows and star-bright eyes gazing at her across the sea, his image slowly blurring into haze.

Beneath the banyan tree, spring’s fragrant scene continued without end, while outside the tree the rain and mist remained dense.

In the woods, under the tree where Lian Yue and Yu Wen Ling Xi had once paused, Yue Ling Jun and the others were resting.

Yao Yao sat slumped beside Meng Chu Chen, looking drowsy and on the verge of sleep. Yawning, she said, “Brother Chu Chen, why did the sky suddenly go dark just now? And with the rain falling so hard, how are we supposed to catch up to Sister Lian Yue?” Her wide eyes darted toward Yu Wen Ling Xi and Qiao Chi beside them. Tugging at Meng Chu Chen’s sleeve, she lowered her voice and said, “Also, I have something to ask you. Can we go a little farther away from them? It’s a secret.”

Her voice was already very soft, but everyone around them was skilled in inner power. There was no need to eavesdrop; they all heard her clearly. Tacitly, no one exposed her, though Qiao Chi, looking at Meng Chu Chen with his peach-blossom eyes, somehow appeared rather lascivious.

Meng Chu Chen acted as if he had not seen it. Rising, he walked off to the side, and Yao Yao naturally hurried after him.

The two had gone a good fifty zhang from the others before Meng Chu Chen finally stopped.

Yao Yao immediately asked, “Senior Brother Chu Chen, have you sensed where Sister Yue’er is? Where is she now? Is she far from us? Is it dangerous? Does she miss me?”

After that barrage of questions, black lines filled Meng Chu Chen’s face. “She’s in the woods, ahead of us, at some distance. She’s not in danger. And she doesn’t miss you.”

Yao Yao pouted skeptically. “Sister Yue’er really doesn’t miss me? You must have sensed it wrong. Sense it again. Sense it again.”

The black lines on Meng Chu Chen’s face only grew denser. He looked coldly at the gesticulating Yao Yao. “Hm... what did you just promise?”

Yao Yao stiffened, withdrew her hands, and lowered her head. “No making noise, no going crazy, no being silly, no being greedy, no leaving the team, and obeying properly, well-behaved, with no more than one step between me and Senior Brother Chu Chen.” She cautiously lifted her head and looked at him ingratiatingly. “Senior Brother Chu Chen, I was wrong. I won’t make trouble next time. Don’t have the shadow guards send me back, okay? Yao Yao promises to be obedient.”

Looking at Yao Yao’s wet, shining eyes and her rosy lips, a strange heat surged in Meng Chu Chen’s heart. Before he could stop himself, and amidst Yao Yao’s startled cry, he pulled her into his arms and pressed his lips to her red, fragrant mouth.

Yao Yao was stunned by his actions. Her mind went blank. Her large eyes stared in terror at the handsome face so close to hers. It was still Senior Brother Chu Chen’s face after changing his appearance, yet something felt wrong.

That’s right! What was he doing? Wasn’t this the sort of thing only lovers did?

Coming to her senses, Yao Yao began to struggle violently. Meng Chu Chen’s mind seemed to explode with something. He opened his eyes, paused for less than a breath, then anxiously pushed Yao Yao away.

Unfortunately, he used too much force, and Yao Yao landed hard on her backside in the grass, glaring at Meng Chu Chen in accusation.

Right now, Meng Chu Chen could be said to be suffering in silence. A sudden impulse had risen in his heart, entirely beyond his control, and it still had not faded. A kind of bone-deep torment wound through his heart, making him unbearably restless. Especially when he looked at Yao Yao now, he even felt an urge to pin her down.

Meng Chu Chen quickly withdrew his gaze and abruptly charged into the rain.
