Volume One, Chapter Five: She Doesn’t Want You, But I Do
Xu Qing completely ignored Bai Yutang.
At that moment, his phone rang. He took it out and saw a WeChat message from Lin Xia.
"Xu Qing, have you really divorced Qiu Tong?"
Seeing Lin Xia's message, Xu Qing did not reply.
Lin Xia was Tan Qiu Tong’s close friend, and perhaps influenced by Tan Qiu Tong, Xu Qing did not want to respond.
Just as he put away his phone, Old Master Bai finally woke up.
He let out a heavy breath, feeling an unprecedented relief.
“Dad.”
“Grandpa!”
“Grandpa!”
“Are you alright?”
Several members of the Bai family hurried forward to inquire.
“Hmm, I’m fine. Was it this divine doctor who saved me?” Bai Siyuan got up, and the first person he saw was Zhu Qingshan.
“Grandpa, this is the divine doctor Zhu from Xichuan. Zhu Qingyi happens to be in Bi City recently, so I specially invited him to treat you,” Bai Yutang quickly explained.
“Thank you, Doctor Zhu. I’ve long heard of your reputation. I never expected to be treated personally by you today. It’s my honor,” Bai Siyuan said hurriedly, getting out of bed and bowing to Zhu Qingshan.
Zhu Qingshan looked embarrassed and shook his head. “Old Master Bai, it wasn’t me who revived you, but this young brother here. I’m not skilled enough; I feel ashamed.”
“Ah?”
Bai Siyuan was startled and glanced over to see Xu Qing smiling at him.
“Divine Doctor Xu, so it was you who saved me again. I’m truly grateful!” Bai Siyuan was moved and full of gratitude.
At the same time, he felt relieved.
He had known Xu Qing for several years and had no doubt about his medical skills.
First, he cured his granddaughter’s strange illness, then his lung cancer, and now he had been revived after fainting suddenly. He didn’t know how to thank Xu Qing enough.
He looked at his granddaughter, Bai Yulan, with some regret.
If Xu Qing were not married, he would have considered marrying his granddaughter to him.
Xu Qing smiled faintly. “Old Master Bai, you’re too polite.”
“By the way, Doctor Xu, could this sudden fainting be due to cancer cells becoming active again?” Bai Siyuan’s greatest worry was the recurrence of his lung cancer.
Although Xu Qing had cured him two years ago, cancer was incurable, and no one could guarantee it wouldn’t relapse.
“No.”
Xu Qing shook his head. “There are no cancer cells left in your body. This time, you were possessed.”
“Possessed?”
Bai Siyuan was shocked, looking at Xu Qing in disbelief.
Superstition now? This was too mysterious.
“Yes.”
Xu Qing did not elaborate. “Old Master Bai, have you recently been to a place heavy with yin energy?”
Bai Siyuan shook his head. “No, I haven’t left the house for a week.”
Xu Qing thought for a moment. “Then take me to your residence.”
Bai Siyuan nodded, and the group headed to his usual home.
Upon entering the yard, Xu Qing frowned.
A chilling, sinister aura hit them immediately.
“Old Master Bai, your yard is quite damp and gloomy. It feels colder here,” Zhu Qingshan suddenly remarked.
At that moment, Xu Qing’s phone rang. It was Lin Xia.
He frowned slightly. Lin Xia had just sent him several messages in a row. After hesitating, he said to Bai Siyuan, “Old Master Bai, I need to take this call.”
He stepped aside to answer the phone.
“Xu Qing, why aren’t you replying to my messages? You’re not thinking of doing something foolish, are you?” Lin Xia’s worried voice came through.
Xu Qing was taken aback.
Though Lin Xia was Tan Qiu Tong’s close friend, since he cured her strange illness two years ago, they had maintained a good relationship.
Hearing her concern, an inexplicable warmth touched his heart.
“If divorced, then divorced. What’s the big deal? At least you still have me as a good friend. Don’t do anything foolish, okay?”
After a pause, Lin Xia’s voice softened, as if shy. “Qiu Tong doesn’t want you, but I do…”
“Hello? Are you listening? Hello, Xu Qing?”
“Here,” Xu Qing replied, half amused.
He hadn’t expected Lin Xia to be so adorably earnest in trying to cheer him up.
Because Lin Xia was even more beautiful than Tan Qiu Tong, Xu Qing had kept his distance to avoid misunderstandings between the two friends.
Unexpectedly, Lin Xia bore him no ill will. Upon hearing about his divorce, she was the first to comfort him.
Honestly, at that moment, the softest part of his heart was touched.
“Are you okay? You haven’t done anything rash out of sadness, right?” Lin Xia cautiously asked.
“What are you thinking? Am I that fragile?”
“Where are you now? I want to come find you. Somehow, I don’t quite believe you.”
“I’m at the Bai residence, treating Old Master Bai.”
“Oh, you’re really fine then?”
“What could possibly be wrong with me?”
“Well, alright. Since you’re busy, I won’t disturb you. By the way, I’ll treat you to drinks tonight.”
Xu Qing hesitated briefly. “Okay.”
After agreeing on the time and place, he ended the call.
He returned to the group, who all looked at him.
Xu Qing said, “What Doctor Zhu said is correct. There’s a problem with Old Master Bai’s room.”
“A problem?” Bai Siyuan looked puzzled.
Xu Qing did not answer but stepped ahead into the room.
Soon after entering, Xu Qing glanced around and understood the situation.
“Old Master Bai, was this room arranged by a feng shui expert?” Xu Qing asked casually.
“Yes, we specially hired a feng shui master to set it up,” Bai Siyuan said proudly. “There are hidden feng shui principles here that ensure prosperity for the Bai family.”
Xu Qing nodded, surveying the room. Then he looked up at Bai Siyuan’s forehead, where new sinister energy had already appeared.
“Your feng shui formation has been tampered with. Instead of bringing prosperity to the Bai family, it will bring ruin without end,” Xu Qing said slowly.
“Ah? What should we do?” Bai Siyuan was alarmed and asked urgently.
He trusted Xu Qing completely.
“Find the person who tampered with it and deal with them once and for all.”
Saying this, Xu Qing moved a vase slightly.
“Within three days, the culprit will come knocking. If not, the evil energy will backfire, causing them to explode.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Yutang’s face changed dramatically.
