Rui Bao refused to be carried. Using both hands and feet, he crawled up himself—and then saw the person he had longed for day and night. His nose instantly began to sting.
She was not afraid that Wang Ye would waste time. What she feared was that his “failure to attend to his proper business” would cause Mu Yu’er to blame him.
As far as Wang Ye knew, although the Tower of Withered Bones was a faction led by necromancers, it did not reject the use of modern equipment.
Once it came to him, his purpose in attending physical training became cooperating with Mu Yu’er’s experiments.
In other words, even if he brought out his Jadeleaf Spirit Peach now, it would still be worth more than a thousand contribution points.
She had realized that she was under house arrest ten days ago. In those ten days, she had exhausted every excuse she could think of, yet still could not leave the courtyard.
Lou Yan hung up at once. Wen Yi’an called again, only to be ruthlessly disconnected. Apparently understanding what Lou Yan meant, Wen Yi’an stopped calling and instead sent him a great many text messages in one burst.
Fourth Brother, this is quite good. If you can win some merit by helping the dragon ascend, you’ll have a secure second half of your life.
These sounds mingled with the foul smoke and the smell of alcohol, along with the faint scent of blood. It was as though the air itself were filled with violent impulses, making people unable to resist releasing the darkest, most brutal, bloodthirsty side of themselves.
Lou Yan had not eaten a proper meal for two whole days. Even the rice in his bowl tasted enticingly sweet. Once the food entered his stomach, the burning hunger eased somewhat.
Jiang Lai lifted the bowl of porridge and drank the last mouthful before finally speaking, amid the quiet atmosphere, about what had happened in First Sun City.
That morning, Ye Yu put his arms around Yu Na and said, “You’re beautiful.”
“So annoying!” She punched him. “By the way, once the company opens, come work for me too. You’ll earn more than you do now.”
After the weather grew colder again, the people who had previously gone on business trips returned, driving up instant-noodle sales. Once those sales rose, they never fell again. The reason was simple: preparations were being made for the coming Spring Festival travel rush.
“I do not like drinking soup.”
The words fell like another basin of ice water, chilling Zhu Yao from head to toe.

Jing Yi’an instinctively felt that the sound system was another prank those people had devised. She glanced back without thinking, wondering whether a large group of people might be carrying huge white buckets filled with terrifying red paint—or slop whose stench could be detected from far away.
Advanced martial spirits differed greatly from low-level martial spirits. The most obvious distinction was that they allowed their users to fight above their level, surpassing opponents by one or even two ranks.
Jiang Lai drew lines and scribbled notes across the map of the Yan Kingdom spread over the table. No one but him knew what he was busy with.
Everyone knew of Yuchi Wushuang’s bravery and martial prowess, but who exactly was that seemingly harmless, fair, portly man?
Dong Ying had only received the news that they were going to Heji that morning, so there could not possibly have been enough time for them to make thorough preparations.
If Empress Chen could prove herself and refrain from meddling in those affairs, Emperor Chongming might still take their years as husband and wife into consideration and think of preserving a little of her dignity.
Mi Jia smiled without saying anything. She had indeed gone on six blind dates and met eight men that week. If she still could not find someone suitable for marriage, she would probably have to continue meeting men next week—or consider increasing the number.
In the end, Test Subject 1004 did not charge toward that room again. After running far enough to change its angle, it was struck by Xue Qiong’s long-prepared Charged Thought Cannon.
Ye Xu kept moving forward for more than twenty minutes. When he finally looked around, he discovered that he had somehow returned to where he started.
“Come here, child… Come here, child…” A hoarse voice repeated itself beside her ear.
At the very least, the appearance of the three Enkazaru star spirits gave Xue Qiong every opportunity to take his hands off the reins and idle during the early construction of the new settlement—though he still did not do so.
“Uh… We’re here to take part in the Martial Combat Tournament.” Xue Qiong came up with an excuse instantly.
“Master, this is the Superwave Annihilation Device.”
The bald man took out a tablet computer and operated it briefly. Only then did the space before Xue Qiong fully light up. Although he had been prepared for it, the scene revealed before him still left him shaken.
“Are you out of your mind? Don’t you have even a little sympathy? I’m already like this, and you’re still laughing? Is my face really that funny? Bring me a mirror. I want to take a look.”
As Lu Xiaolei spoke, she reached into Jin Yuexian’s handbag for a makeup mirror.

What on earth was it? What kind of beast? He thought long and hard, but could not imagine anything in the old forests of northwestern Zhejiang growing to such a size.
Chen Ran hurriedly extended his energy halo toward it. The moment he probed it, he sensed the true nature of the red glow—and although he had discovered it, the revelation frightened him badly.
“Brother, stop hitting him! Stop!”
With a cry, Xie Wanjun—carefully made up for the occasion—rushed in and clung desperately to Xie Tingjun, who was still preparing to throw another punch.
“He’s bleeding already! Brother, please stop!”
Tears streamed down Xie Wanjun’s face as she looked at Zhuang Xinyan lying on the ground.
The Thousand-Breaking, Hundred-Bending Hand was used to forge weapons. Even modern technology could not reproduce the effects it achieved, yet this exceptional technique had also been lost.
“You’re too beautiful. You attract too much attention walking down the street, and that isn’t a good thing,” Lin Feng said.
Old Bai appeared extremely amiable on the surface, but it was obvious that he was not an easy man to deal with. After Zhou Jianyun rebuked him so publicly and without the slightest regard for his dignity, how could he not be angry? His face darkened at once.
“Boss, we’ve struck it rich this time. I’ve got an even better project. Should I handle it myself, or should I leave it to you?”
The boy sounded even more excited than he had the last time.
“My spellcasting was interrupted, and I was silenced for ten seconds.”
Murong Ziyan immediately reported the situation.
Shangguan Qiqi’s face was filled with anger, but after glancing at Iga Haruko’s pitiful expression, she decided not to argue with Bing Feng.
I wonder how Father and Mother are doing. Brother Si Pei will probably learn in a day or two that I’ve left. And there is Zhao Di. I had originally planned to have her father bring her over after this year’s wheat harvest, but that will not be possible now.
He stayed that night and did not leave until dawn. They had been inseparable, exhausting every ounce of passion and tenderness they possessed, wishing only to merge into each other’s flesh and blood and leave their marks upon one another—so that even in the next life, they would recognize each other at a single glance.
