Chapter 38: Wealth Gives Confidence

“Are you even human? What good is an alchemy manual if I don’t have an alchemy cauldron?”
“I spent half the day memorizing the recipe for the Spirit-Replenishing Pill, and it never said anything about needing a cauldron!”
“Host, refining pills requires an alchemy cauldron. That is common knowledge.”
“And besides, I was never human to begin with. At most, I’m a finger—a cheat finger.”
Jiang Xuan: “……”
Perched on a tree branch, Jiang Xuan cursed furiously, rendered speechless by the system’s retort.
His chest heaved as he felt he had been thoroughly played for a fool.
The process of refining pills was complicated, and the finer details demanded extreme precision. The method for refining a mere Spirit-Replenishing Pill alone filled three entire pages.
Taking advantage of the calm, Jiang Xuan had spent most of the day committing it all to memory.
Just as he eagerly prepared to take out some spirit herbs and begin refining, he discovered that he had no idea where to start.
Only then did Jiang Xuan suddenly remember that the Scripture of a Hundred Refinements had indeed mentioned an alchemy cauldron—except that it could be replaced with an ordinary container…
“Forget it, forget it. I suppose the opportunity hasn’t arrived yet.”
“Host, you have lost two minions. One million points of spiritual energy will be deducted.”
“What? You bastard! I’m already suffering, and you still have to kick me while I’m down?”
“Ding! The host’s spiritual energy has been deducted. However, considering your current cultivation level, the loss is insignificant.”
Jiang Xuan once again sank into speechlessness and gloom.
He was already consumed by regret and grief over losing Orange and the Hothead. He had never expected there to be a punishment as well.
But judging from this, he would have to be much more careful from now on.
At the very least, he could not afford to lose another one of his minions.
“Come out, all of you! I have something to announce!”
Leaning against the tree branch, Jiang Xuan shouted down below.
Before long, the minions began emerging from the underground cavern.
There was one major difference now: every one of them had broken through to the level of a Great Demon and transformed into human form.
For demon beasts, taking human form was not only a sign of strength but also a matter of convenience.
After all, human bodies were far smaller than those of demon beasts, making all sorts of activities much easier.
Among them, Little Emerald, Little Orchid, Little Rose, and Qiao’er—the four female eagles—were naturally far less beautiful than the Empress.
But from Jiang Xuan’s perspective, each of them was still an unmistakable beauty.

Little Emerald had a sweet appearance, and the green dress she wore accentuated her proud figure to perfection. She was the quintessential sweet girl.
Little Orchid, on the other hand, resembled the Empress, with an air that seemed to repel people from a thousand miles away.
Yet she was not actually haughty. She merely appeared somewhat aloof on the surface, while in truth she was easy to get along with—the sort of campus goddess everyone admired back in school.
Qiao’er’s features possessed a classical charm and were equally exquisite. Her long black hair, falling to her waist, was as smooth as flowing water, giving her an especially captivating allure.
As for Little Rose, she was something else entirely. Her figure was just as fiery as Little Emerald’s, and she wore a rose-red top Jiang Xuan had specially made for her, paired with a black lace-trimmed skirt. Add in the wavy curls that had appeared for no apparent reason, and she looked like a true pink bombshell.
As for the other minions, they all had different faces, but were thoroughly ordinary—lost among the crowd, the sort of nameless passersby known only as A, B, C, and D.
“Big Brother, what’s up? We’ve finished all the meat. Are we going hunting?”
“Big Brother, taking human form is really convenient! Before, I thought the cavern you dug was too small. Now it feels positively spacious.”
“Blabbermouth, get away from me! Don’t stand so close!”
“Little Rose, I only like you. Would you like to—”
“No. My heart belongs only to Big Brother!”
Once they came out, they began chattering noisily, making Jiang Xuan somewhat irritable.
As for the minions’ crude and shameless remarks, Jiang Xuan had long since grown accustomed to them.
“Quiet down! Our situation is far from stable!”
“Do you remember those Great Demons you encountered when you first entered the Eternal Domain? They said they were members of the Beast Sect.”
“While you were unconscious, demon beasts from the Tyrant Sect also came by. That swallow, for instance.”
“Tch. It’s only a sect. I hate this sort of factional nonsense more than anything.”
The Demon Venerable gave a disdainful snort.
In the world where he had lived during his previous life, sects had flourished by the hundreds, and humanity’s overall strength had been astonishingly powerful.
But so what? Hadn’t the demon race he led still wiped them all out in one fell swoop?
“I know a little about this as well. But we definitely can’t stay here for long. The people from the Beast Sect and the Tyrant Sect will surely come seeking revenge.”
“We don’t know this place or its surroundings, and we need resources too. We’ll set out tonight and head east.”
Jiang Xuan and the others were currently in the western region.
Going east meant heading deeper into the Eternal Domain.
The unknown dangers they would face from then on would be far more formidable than those in the Outer Domain.
With sects came backing. Through interaction and exchange, demon beasts would also grow much more rapidly, and their strength would naturally become greater.
“Understood, Big Brother. At least we’re all Great Demons now! As long as we avoid those sects, nothing will happen.”

“Exactly. There are so many of us demon beasts. Who would dare come looking for trouble? They’d just be courting death.”
“Could they really send out their entire force?”
Qiao’er raised the corner of her mouth, clearly unconcerned.
“That may not be true. There are Spirit Demons in the Eternal Domain, as well as demon beasts who have yet to enter the Saint Realm. We should still be careful.”
“Skinny’s right. The Eternal Domain is nothing like the Outer Domain. There are more species of demon beasts here, and they’re stronger too. Better to err on the side of caution.”
With that, Jiang Xuan pulled out several cultivation manuals and tossed them down.
“One for each of you. There’s no need to fight over them. If two of you take a fancy to the same manual, settle ownership with a battle.”
“Damn! There are so many! Big Brother, you’re loaded!”
“Eagle Strikes the Vast Sky! Golden Stone Splitting Blow! Demon Swordsmanship! Mountain-Sealing Heaven Suppression! Battle Soul Armor… Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa!”
There were eleven cultivation manuals in total, none of them divine abilities.
To keep the minions from complaining, Jiang Xuan had deliberately gathered eleven manuals before distributing them.
Some had been rewards from the system. Jiang Xuan had learned a few of them himself, but instead of keeping the rest, he simply gave them away.
Others were techniques he had seized from various demon beasts over the past few days. There were exactly eleven in all.
“Demon Venerable, this one is yours.”
While the minions were fighting tooth and nail over the cultivation manuals, Jiang Xuan tossed another one toward the flamboyant punk-styled figure.
Its name was Azure Annihilation.
The moment he saw the manual, the Demon Venerable’s eyes went wide.
Even the Empress was shaken by the gray-white manual lying on the ground.
The reason was simple: the manual emanated an aura of annihilation from the ancient era.
A cultivation technique capable of bringing an end to the Primordial Age—just one glance was enough to send a chill down the Empress’s spine.
“Hahaha! Jiang Xuan, I knew I hadn’t misjudged you!”
“I’m extremely satisfied with this technique! It truly speaks to my heart!”
Quick as a striking snake, the Demon Venerable snatched the manual up and hugged it to his chest, shouting in excitement.
The other minions suddenly felt that their own manuals had lost their appeal.
But there was nothing they could do. After all, the Demon Venerable was the big brother’s own younger brother…
