Volume 1, Chapter 38: Am I Blind, Your Majesty?
The scene before her eyes nearly caused Chi Mei to faint from fury. She had only been gone for a brief moment, yet these two were already clinging to each other with such impatience? To behave so shamelessly in broad daylight—it was truly scandalous! Stamping her feet in agitation, she bellowed, "You fool, where has your soul gone?"
Qian Yi took out a silver needle and pricked the child’s philtrum, Yongquan, Quchi, and Shaoshang acupoints, squeezing out a few drops of blood. The blood was as black as lacquer and reeked of rotting fish. Qian Yi leaned in to sniff it, then massaged several acupoints on the child’s back. Gradually, the child calmed down and drifted into a slow slumber.
It was Saturday night, and Vitality City was offering a twenty percent discount on all drinks. By the time they arrived, there were no seats left in the ice room. Zhou Mi said they didn't want to drink anyway, so they decided to hang out by the dance floor for a while.
Thinking something had happened at home, Zhou Mi ran out. November in Guangdong was still quite hot, and her run left her drenched in sweat.
Yuan Ming was usually level-headed; why was he acting so recklessly at such a critical juncture? Their army had been decimated by the Song forces, while Luan Qingxiong’s troops remained almost entirely intact! If they provoked them into action, Li Yuanhao could crush them with ease. They had to keep a low profile.
Three long, moonlit shadows emerged, swaying as they crept out from the side street. Suddenly, the shadows vanished into thin air, only to have their long arms stretch out, bending around the corner from the air above the street to swoop down upon them.
Zhou Jinmei went downstairs. Zhou Zhiguang watched, helpless, as Liang Song ran over to take his sister’s hand. They spoke in gentle, hushed tones, and his sister beamed at him; it was a scene of tender, mutual affection.
"..." He Mo cracked the door open just a sliver and tiptoed over to look down. They were sitting on the carpet in front of the sofa, shoulders touching. The atmosphere seemed quite harmonious, and even Silence was lying by the sofa, bored out of its mind.
The gale stirred up by the arrows whipped the hair of those on the city walls, as if jealous of their beauty. Once the storm of blades passed, they realized they hadn't suffered a single scratch—not even a strand of hair had been lost. Emerging from their shock, they excitedly embraced the comrades beside them, shouting out loud regardless of whether they knew them or not.
The Fish-Dragon’s sensory range was fully expanded. As it flew, the reflected images of the jungle drifted past like lanterns. Luo Qing had been adapting to this for two months and could still glean a great deal of information from it.
Mu Chifeng, Luo Qiuzhi, and Luo Xiamot flew over upon hearing this, not forgetting to scan the shimmering world inside the Huimin Office and casting astonished glances at Xue Die. Tuo Laosan followed closely behind.
"You old hag, if you come any closer, I’ll chop you to death." He woke up from the dream again, startled. In his dreams, he had already hacked that fiery figure to death countless times.
However, hearing Jiang Baige announce that Zhou Ziyan had officially taken office made Xia Mingzhu feel as though her worst fears had finally come to pass. Through a series of missteps, she was determined to try and salvage the situation.
Hearing the faint sound of Xiao Han’s snoring, Pasti, who had been "asleep," turned over triumphantly, reaching out to rub the side of her body that had gone numb.
He didn't get discouraged by those he couldn't seduce, nor did he take it to heart; but he would never let a target slip away if he could help it. After closing up for the night, he always ran off with someone—saying he played the groom every night would be no exaggeration.
As for Xuzhou, since Zhuge Liang’s Xiapi City was there, it was best to leave it to him to build his ten cities. As for Cao Cao and Liu Bei, it was better not to hinder them if it could be avoided.
"Brother Fan, it’s not that I want to bother you, but something has come up," Huang Mao said, his tone laced with nervousness.
Gentle and friendly—based on the NPCs' behavior, these were two completely different attitudes. To put it mildly, the way Modo seemed to violate system rules to guide his skill selection last time was entirely due to a "gentle" level of friendship. Had the attitude only been "friendly," such a thing would have been absolutely impossible.
