Chapter 6: Head of the Organized Crime Task Force
Standing before Yan Tian was a female police officer—and a very beautiful one at that.
Though she wasn’t tall, barely around 1.56 meters, her figure was stunningly voluptuous. Beneath the police uniform, her slender waist seemed almost delicate enough to be encircled by a single hand. The proportions of her upper and lower body were impeccable, and had she been fifteen centimeters taller, she would have undoubtedly been an international supermodel.
Her eyes were large and framed by elegantly arched eyebrows. At this moment, she was looking up at Yan Tian, her gaze strangely enigmatic.
Judging by her appearance, she seemed barely in her early twenties. Yet Yan Tian saw in her eyes a maturity that belied her age—an aura as if she were a seasoned elder in her sixties or seventies.
“Who are you?” Yan Tian asked, frowning.
“I’m a police officer,” the woman said coldly. “We received a report that you kidnapped a young girl.”
“What? Are you joking?” Yan Tian looked genuinely surprised. “With my good looks, would I really need to kidnap a girl?”
“That’s not for you to debate now. This is a search warrant; I’m going to search your home.” The woman brandished a piece of paper before Yan Tian’s eyes briefly, then quickly tucked it away, not waiting to see if he had read it clearly, and moved toward the door.
“Wait!” Yan Tian blocked her path. He glanced behind her and saw a police car parked on the street in front of the gate, its lights off, apparently empty. “I want to see your identification. Also, I didn’t get a good look at the search warrant.”
A faint smile tugged at the corner of the woman’s lips. “Oh, not bad. You’ve got the instincts of a seasoned criminal, eh? Pretty alert.”
Yan Tian was momentarily speechless. He spread his hands in front of her.
The female officer produced her ID and the search warrant, handing them over to Yan Tian. “Take a good look.”
“Leng Bingtong… hmm, quite a lovely name.” Yan Tian flipped through the documents. “Leader of the city’s anti-gang task force… Hmm, why would your unit be involved in a kidnapping case?” As he spoke, he scrutinized the search warrant. It looked genuine, but lacking professional expertise, Yan Tian couldn’t verify the authenticity of the documents.
“Have you seen enough?” the officer asked, extending a pale, delicate hand, signaling for the papers back.
“Yes, I have.” Yan Tian returned the documents, casually brushing his fingers over her hand. Her skin was incredibly soft and fair, but chillingly cold, like ice. Such boldness was new for him—previously, he would never have dared.
Leng Bingtong snorted, took back her documents, and strode inside past Yan Tian.
Yan Tian glanced again at the police car, then followed behind Leng Bingtong, feigning casualness as he asked, “Did you come alone?”
Scanning the courtyard as she spoke, she replied, “Why? Is it a problem to come alone?”
Yan Tian clicked his tongue, sighing. “Not bad. So you’re convinced I’m a kidnapper, and you, a young woman, dared to come alone to search my home… Tsk tsk, aren’t you afraid—?”
“Afraid of what?” Leng Bingtong turned sharply, shooting him a cold glare. Yan Tian thought he saw a flicker of blue light flash in her eyes, though he wasn’t sure if it was his imagination.
“Whose car is this?” She pointed to the sports car parked in the front yard.
Yan Tian smirked inwardly, folding his arms. “It belongs to my girlfriend.”
Leng Bingtong approached the car, examining it carefully, her nostrils twitching slightly. Yan Tian noticed her subtle movements clearly, as if she was sniffing the lingering scent on the vehicle.
After circling the yard, Leng Bingtong headed toward the front house. Yan Tian sneered, stepping quickly to block her at the door, looking down at her from above. “Tell me, did Gao Qianduo send you?”
Leng Bingtong looked up with narrowed eyes, a dangerous glint flickering within. “Who’s the police here, you or me?”
Yan Tian laughed coldly. “Don’t take me for a fool! People fear the police, but I don’t. Besides, if you were a genuine officer, I might cooperate. But if you’re backed by the Gao family… Hmph, don’t think I’m afraid of you just because you wear a badge. There are plenty of beautiful women in this world. Offend one, and I won’t be any less myself. With my strength now, I’m not without bargaining chips.”
Suddenly, Leng Bingtong laughed—a sound like ice melting—so disarming that it unsettled Yan Tian, who had grown used to her cold demeanor.
“Little brother, which eye of yours sees a ‘lackey’ sign plastered on my forehead?” she teased, her large eyes still gleaming with danger. “Are you thinking I’m here on Gao Qianduo’s orders to catch your little sweetheart? Or maybe… you thought, since I came alone, you could kill me to silence me?”
Yan Tian took a deep breath. “Killing to silence? That’s not happening. But if you came seeking trouble, I’ll make sure you don’t leave happy either.”
“Is that so? Then let sister see if you have the ability!” With that, Leng Bingtong suddenly struck!
Her slender hand moved like an eagle’s claw, lightning-fast toward Yan Tian’s throat. Yan Tian raised his left hand to block it, a crisp sound ringing out as her hand caught on his palm.
His entire hand went numb, as if electrocuted. His mind momentarily blanked. Her other hand clenched into a fist and silently struck toward his abdomen.
Yan Tian’s senses were razor-sharp. Just as her fist flew out, he intercepted it with his right palm. A dull explosion sounded as fist met palm, the recoil sending Yan Tian hurtling backward, crashing into the center table of the house before coming to a stop.
Leng Bingtong, however, merely swayed slightly before regaining balance.
Shock flooded Yan Tian’s heart, and he blurted out, “Who exactly are you?”
His surprise was indescribable. He had believed his divine martial arts were nearly invincible; opponents were few and far between.
Leng Bingtong’s speed was astonishing—if not for Yan Tian’s heightened senses, her two strikes would have landed unhI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
