Chapter 33: Buddy, You're Committing Bigamy
The two men did not look identical; one could not even find a single feature in their brows that matched. Yet, whether it was Yan Tian himself or Leng Bingtong and the others, the first sensation they felt the moment that man turned around was that they were looking at another Yan Tian.
It was a profound and mysterious feeling. The man’s aura was as noble as a god’s, his gaze as steady and deep as an emperor’s. His appearance could no longer be described as merely handsome, and even the word "perfect" failed to do him justice.
Yet, this peerless man somehow gave Yan Tian and the others the exact same feeling as Yan Tian himself. There was no logic to it, no way to explain why—it was purely a visceral sensation.
The man saw Yan Tian the moment he turned. He seemed to pause for a second, a mysterious smile blooming on his face, before he strode toward them.
"Damn it, if it weren't for that guy, those beauties should all be mine!" Yan Tian muttered to himself, suddenly feeling unusually angry.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't let any of the five beauties by your side go," the man said, his lips moving. He was about ten meters away, but his voice sounded as if it were whispered directly into Yan Tian's ear. Yan Tian looked at Leng Bingtong and the others in shock, only to find them acting as if nothing had happened, seemingly unable to hear the man at all.
"Just a hallucination?" Yan Tian wondered.
Seeing the man approaching, Leng Bingtong curled her lip. Along with Sun Shangxiang, Gongsun Jing, and Xia Tianling, she skirted around him and entered the women’s clothing department. For some reason, the man gave them a sense of extreme danger, as if being near him would result in being devoured.
"Xiao Lan, go pick out some clothes with Officer Nan and the others. When you're done, I'll pay," Yan Tian said, sensing the man was coming for him and using the excuse to steer Gao Lan away.
Gao Lan looked at Yan Tian, then at the man, and said, "Alright, I'll go. You... you be careful." She also sensed danger from the man, but she vaguely felt that he posed no threat to the Yan Tian standing beside her. It was as if all the danger the man exuded was directed only at women.
Once Gao Lan left, the man reached Yan Tian.
"Hello." The man, a few centimeters taller than Yan Tian, smiled and extended his right hand.
"Hello." Yan Tian responded lethargically. He looked up, hands in his pockets, refusing to shake the man's hand. He stared into the man's eyes with a hint of provocation, subconsciously activating his "Heavenly Eye," projecting a gaze capable of shaking one's soul into the depths of the man's eyes.
But the man felt nothing. He retracted his hand naturally and pointed to a row of resting chairs against the wall. "Shall we go sit over there? Women don't pick out clothes in a moment; we're in for a wait."
Yan Tian was astonished—his Heavenly Eye was ineffective? He deactivated his supernatural gaze, showed no further reaction, and walked to the chairs. The man sat down beside him, turned his head, and smiled meaningfully. "You don't seem very friendly toward me. May I ask if I’ve offended you?"
Yan Tian smiled. "You heard what I said earlier. You should know that two tigers cannot share one mountain; there shouldn't be two super-handsome men in the same place."
"Haha, I know I'm handsome," the man said, rubbing his nose. Yan Tian noticed the gesture was identical to his own. "But you don't need to be jealous. Look, my women are not for you to profane, and I won't harbor any devious thoughts about your girlfriends. There is no conflict between us, is there?"
"But I always feel that for women, especially beauties, you are a dangerous animal," Yan Tian said. "You have fifteen stunning beauties around you; I really don't understand how they can coexist peacefully."
"Ha, that is my ability." The man looked quite proud. He pointed to the women moving through the department. "Look, that one is mine; she is in charge of the harem. She is unmatched in intellect, even smarter than I am, and broad-minded. It is most appropriate for her to lead. Those two are my noble consorts, responsible for helping me coordinate. As for the remaining twelve girls, they are my concubines, and they are only a small portion of all my women."
"Emp... Emperor? Noble Consorts? Harem?" Yan Tian was stunned. He stared at the man, looked him up and down, and asked, "Are you an emperor?"
The man nodded elegantly. "That's right, I am the emperor of my women. Of course, the scope of my rule is limited to my harem. You know, in modern society, our country no longer has emperors."
"Brother, you're committing bigamy," Yan Tian said righteously. "Sorry, I have to call and report you."
"Is that so? Are you sure you'll make that call?" The man blinked. "Or, are you sure the police can do anything to me?"
Yan Tian thought for a moment, shook his head, and laughed. "It seems you're right; the police can't do anything to you. And I really wouldn't report you, because... when I first saw you, I had a very strange feeling."
"A strange feeling? Was it like seeing yourself?"
"How did you know?" Yan Tian asked, surprised. He had been shocked many times in front of this man today.
"Because the first time I saw you, I had the same feeling," the man smiled. "Look, our appearances are different, our temperaments are different, our height, build, and clothing are all different. So why do we both feel like we're looking at ourselves?"
"Yes, why?" Before he knew it, Yan Tian was chatting with this stranger as if they were old friends. The initial sense of crisis—the "two tigers" mentality—had vanished without a trace.
"Perhaps... it's the eyes?" The man blinked, smiling. "The eyes are the windows to the soul. Maybe we have identical eyes?"
"Is that so?" Yan Tian murmured. He looked into the man's eyes, and whether it was psychological or not, he really did feel they were similar. Looking into the man's eyes was like looking at his own in a mirror.
"Oh, look at them. When did my women and your girlfriends start chatting?" The man pointed toward a clothing rack.
Yan Tian looked in the direction he pointed and saw Leng Bingtong and the others discussing a dress with four or five women, led by the one described as the most noble, elegant, and pure-looking woman.
"Women can always find common topics, and beautiful women are always drawn to each other," Yan Tian sighed. "Today in He City—no, half of China’s top beauties are gathered here. It's a miracle!"
"Isn't it? A man who can see this sight can die content," the man agreed. The women's department had been busy, but now, aside from the two groups of women and the staff, there were no other customers. The female shoppers had left out of inferiority, and the men accompanying them had been dragged away by their partners, likely fearing their men would lose interest in them after seeing such stunning beauty.
"By the way, you're still a virgin, aren't you?" The man asked casually.
Yan Tian blushed. "Yes."
"If you can pluck a flower, pluck it, do not wait until there is no flower and you are left plucking a branch!" the man laughed. "With so many beautiful girlfriends, you haven't touched one of them?"
"Er, honestly, although I've designated them as my girlfriends, as of now, I'm just a bodyguard to four of them," Yan Tian said, feeling a bit embarrassed. "And what troubles me is that if I really do win them all over, and win over even more beauties in the future, I don't know how to handle the situation. After all... I don't want to commit bigamy."
"Oh, you mean you can't marry them all."
"Haha, Your Majesty, have you married all your concubines? I see that besides [the first woman], the others are just your mistresses, right?"
"Haha... I'm different from you." The man shook his head, his affectionate gaze sweeping over the women who belonged to him. As he looked at them, the women seemed to have telepathy; they turned back, met his gaze, and smiled, their eyes filled with tenderness.
"I really envy you. You can keep mistresses and still have them adore you like this," Yan Tian sighed. He could clearly see that the love in those women's eyes as they looked at the man was unadulterated. When they looked at him, it was as if nothing in the world existed but him.
"Keep mistresses? Haha, that's a bit superficial," the man shook his head. "Every one of them has faced life and death with me. And they have fought side by side, sharing life and death with each other. Do you know? I am the grace bestowed upon women by the heavens."
"...You're not just a little arrogant."
"Actually, you're the same! You are also the grace bestowed upon women by the heavens. Otherwise, how can you explain the sense of familiarity we felt upon meeting?" The man smiled mysteriously.
"I'm not as exaggerated as you," Yan Tian waved his hand, laughing.
"Why get married?" the man asked suddenly, a remark that felt like a stroke of genius.
"Er, that..." Yan Tian paused, thought for a moment, and said, "If we don't get married, how can I give them status? Without status, people will gossip, and their families won't be happy."
"Why must there be status? Will you die without it? Why fear gossip? Do you and your women live for yourselves, or for those 'others' who might gossip? Do you understand what it means to be free and easy?"
"I don't. But I understand what responsibility is."
"Fine. Speaking of responsibility, tell me, will you not treat them well? Will you not love them, cherish them, and protect them forever, even if it means sacrificing your life and soul to keep them safe and happy?"
"That..."
"I believe you. You are no ordinary person. You are like me—the grace bestowed upon women by the heavens. Therefore, you will not be an irresponsible man."
"What about children in the future? Without marriage, children are illegitimate; they'll be 'black households' without status!"
"With money, what can't be done? Such a trivial matter as registering a household, where is the trouble in that? Little one, you are still too naive! Go for it bravely, be a true lover." The man patted Yan Tian's shoulder with a smile. "Remember, only by truly loving the women you love can you become a true lover. If you only want their bodies, you're nothing more than a low-level lecher. Alright, I'm leaving. We'll chat again if there's a chance."
The man stood up, looked at Yan Tian with a smile, and walked toward the hall. "Beauties, have you picked your clothes? Next stop, we're going to Italy to find Tinto Brass and have him design clothes for you..."
The beauties gathered around the man, laughing, and took their clothes to the counter to pay. Leng Bingtong and the others bid them a warm farewell; in a short time, the girls had become quite familiar with each other.
"Emperor..." Yan Tian watched the man, surrounded by beauties, head toward the elevator. A faint smile hung on his lips as he murmured to himself, "I, too, can become... the emperor of my women!"
As if hearing his words, the man turned back, nodded, and smiled at him.
