Chapter 20: A Born Killer (Part Two)
Dressed in tight black leather, wearing a black leather trench coat, and driving a black convertible, the young girl speeding through the wilderness was like a phantom of the dark night.
Heavy metal music blasted from the tape player, accompanied by a raw, guttural screaming that tore through the air, leaving a trail of violent, discordant noise across the desolate landscape.
The girl pursed her lips, a wild grin playing on her face, while her eyes shimmered with excitement.
A harsh honk suddenly blared, followed by a deafening crash.
Yan Tian’s movements froze instantly. His superhuman hearing allowed him to identify the source of the sound the moment it erupted. It was the front gate; judging by the force of the impact, someone had likely rammed their car right through the iron sheets.
"Damn it, someone's picking a fight!" Yan Tian cursed while mid-shower. Without bothering to dry off or put on clothes, he sprinted out, his flip-flops slapping rhythmically against the floor. Before leaving, he shouted back, "Kexin, get dressed, but don't come out. Might be a bit of trouble."
The bathroom was on the first floor; exiting it and crossing the corridor led straight to the main hall. Yan Tian never had the habit of locking his front door, and now that his martial arts had reached a certain level, he had even less reason to fear intruders.
Stepping into the hall and looking out, he saw the front courtyard under the hazy moonlight. One of the iron gate panels lay flat on the ground, while the other hung crookedly from the wall, clearly beyond repair.
A black sports car was parked in the yard. A beautiful girl with a stunning figure sat brazenly on the hood, watching Yan Tian with a mocking, eccentric smile.
"Who are you?" Seeing the girl, Yan Tian knew instantly she was here to cause trouble. Smashing someone’s front gate was equivalent to slapping the homeowner in the face; he couldn't just swallow that insult. Yet, as he looked the car over, he saw no damage to the hood. Had she not used the car to smash the gate?
"Looking for a beating, are you?" Drenched and dripping, Yan Tian ran into the yard. He wasn't one for chivalry—he had no desire to harm a woman, but if someone bullied their way to his doorstep, he didn't care if they were a beauty or a dragon; he would fight back all the same.
Gao Lan was feeling incredibly frustrated.
Was this the boy who had incapacitated Feng Bao with a single move? No matter how she looked at him, she couldn't detect even a hint of a master's aura.
It wasn't just that he was soaking wet; his outfit was an absolute disaster. He was wearing nothing but boxer shorts and the cheapest pair of flip-flops from a supermarket. His otherwise handsome face was twisted in a savage, angry grimace.
Did one treat a beauty like this?
Ever since she was young, every time Gao Lan wore this provocative outfit to carry out a hit, even her targets would ogle her from head to toe before they realized she had come for their lives. But this brat completely ignored her beauty and figure, which dealt a heavy blow to her ego.
"Damn it, are you mute?" Yan Tian glared at her, fuming. This was his gate! The gate of his ancestral home! "What gives you the right to smash my door? Did I ever offend you? If you don't explain yourself, don't blame me for being ruthless! Damn, I've never seen such a shameless woman in my life..."
Gao Lan finally lost her temper. Yet, despite the rage boiling inside her, a sweet smile bloomed on her face. Deep within that smile, however, lay an icy, bottomless intent to kill.
"You're Yan Tian?" she asked, her voice melodious and sweet, like a warbler singing in the valley.
Yan Tian sensed the killing intent immediately. His fury vanished, replaced by an unnerving, icy calm as he stared at her. "Who exactly are you?"
Gao Lan nodded and beamed. "It seems I found the right person. Remember my name: I am Gao Lan. Don't go to the King of Hell without knowing who took your life."
With that, she reached toward her waist. When her hands reappeared, she was holding two sky-blue micro-submachine guns.
Without another word, the girl pulled the triggers with a sweet smile. Muzzle flashes erupted, the roar of gunfire tearing through the night sky. The bullets traced brilliant, lethal arcs through the air, swarming toward Yan Tian’s chest like a swarm of angry bees.
Yan Tian was less than ten meters away. He had been on high alert from the moment her hands moved toward her waist, and he reacted the instant the guns were drawn.
He ducked low and lunged to the side. In that moment of life and death, he unleashed the greatest speed he had ever achieved.
The bullets chased him relentlessly, sparking against the wall behind him and kicking up dust at his feet. Yan Tian danced through the hail of lead, death closer to him than it had ever been before.
