Volume 1, Chapter 31: The Inspector Arrives
Li Shuhe sat in her office as sunlight streamed through the window, casting dappled light and shadow across her desk. She held a cup of warm water, yet her gaze remained fixed on the morning paper before her. The headline was strikingly bold: "Xia-Dong Auto Plant Equipment Obsolete: Profiting from Tragedy!"
Yan Yuefeng remained still; as the long spear thrust toward him, he kicked the shaft of the dual-bladed weapon, sending it soaring into the air. With a single arm, he caught the spear and unleashed a strike as fluid as drifting clouds.
Within the golden lotus, liquid-like golden light flowed downward, enveloping Luo Hao’s body. The radiance penetrated his flesh, continuously tempering his form to reach a state of perfection.
Wang Dongqing let out a single grunt before his head tilted to the side in death, yet even in his final moments, his teeth remained locked firmly onto Bailiusheng’s neck.
If Liang Yu truly wanted to kill him, there would be no need for the trouble of entrapment... a full-force strike would have sufficed.
The two corridors on the Huaxia side, apart from the one leading to the residential quarantine zone, held another path that grew increasingly wider as they walked. At its end lay a massive, domed space, bright and cavernous like a grand hall.
The middle-aged man was amused. "What are you thinking? Do you really believe such a good thing exists? That avian creature flies in a straight line, but no one knows exactly where—it might head toward dense city blocks or open ground; it all comes down to luck." Having said this, he walked directly to the side.
Although Old Demon Xin had been famous for ages, he had made no progress for centuries after reaching the peak of the Earth Nirvana Realm. Now that he had actually broken through to the Heaven Nirvana Realm... could it be that they had truly secured the backing of the Chaotic Demon Sea?
Zu Yun had an insatiable appetite. It seemed as though he intended to make up for two months of missed meals all at once. They had entered the barbecue restaurant at six-thirty in the evening and did not leave until eleven; by then, the traffic on the road had thinned significantly.
The thunder-wielding man furrowed his brows. At this point, he dared not hesitate any longer; he feared that if things continued this way, he would truly be finished.
The latter, lacking any immortal essence to protect his body, was sent flying by a single punch, blood and clots gushing from his mouth.
"Old Guo, damn it, help me beat this bastard!" Old Chen kicked the guy right off his stool onto the floor and shouted at me.
At this moment, the wailing of approaching police sirens grew louder. With less than two minutes until they arrived, Yaoyang felt an inexplicable sense of relief. He thought that no matter how bold the enemy was, they couldn't possibly kill him right under the eyes of the police, could they?
Ahead appeared a beast resembling a black-patterned leopard, venom dripping from its jaws. Yet, within the Magic Dream, there was no trace of this creature’s presence.
Facing this uncanny binding that he could not break free from, Zhong Sanjiao realized with frustration that even his own refraction attacks were ineffective against it. This was the first time since he had started his career that he had encountered such a thing from an equal.
The Lingtian Realm had spent a full hundred years preparing for this day. As the lowest-ranked realm beneath the heavens, they needed this extra-territorial battle to prove their worth as an Immortal Realm.
The Lord of the Forbidden City withdrew his gaze from Ling Tian and produced the fiery-red dragon pearl.
"Oh? A Level Nine Shadow-Walker? Who could have angered a Level Nine Shadow-Walker to this extent? Poor souls!" Fandi Ben Gaoqi looked up at the sky, remarking with some surprise.
Various rays of light surged into the sky, the terrifying pressure they unleashed causing the void for ten thousand miles around to roar.
I drew a sharp, subconscious breath and bit my lip in agitation. "Are you saying I offended the He family?" After all, I knew little of high society. I hadn't thought deeply about it before, but with his hint, my mind naturally drifted toward other possibilities.
