Volume 1, Chapter 40: What His Highness Intends to Use Every Night
Princess Changning was not unaware that Gu Han had been coming to the princess’s residence every day these past few days; she was simply far too busy.
Lord Wang came to report that Sheye’s wedding envoy had rested in Bianzhou for several days before continuing on at speed. They were expected to arrive in Huaiyang Prefecture and join the others within three days at most.
“All right, all right. I’ll do as you say.” Jiang Hao laughed, narrowing his eyes as he enjoyed Lingling Yang’s attentions.
Qin Gu and Xiao Lang naturally had no doubts about any of this. They were now Zhang Fengyun’s most devoted followers; even if Zhang Fengyun claimed he could bring the dead back to life, they would believe him without hesitation.
Besides, the bone powder scattered across the ground—powder that cut off solar energy—had clearly been sprinkled there afterward. In theory, the miners within had possessed the strongest resentment immediately after their deaths. Whoever had arranged the formation could not possibly have failed to understand that.
With my naked eyes, I could see the deathly aura that had originally shrouded the clinic suddenly begin to seethe and billow, as though a pot of water had reached the boil.
Ever since Lord Mi Xiao brought that temple back, he had set the great hall halfway up the mountain. Reasoning that a temple could not thrive without incense and offerings, Lord Mi Xiao had somehow gathered a number of ignorant mountain folk and settled them beneath the temple, where they lived and multiplied while worshiping it day and night.
Lowering his head, Yuan Xi uncovered Zhen Rong’s flushed, rosy face. He kissed her twice, then turned and walked outside.
Yuan Xi loved her delicate, timid manner most of all. He scooped Cai Yan up in his arms and, amid her startled cries, strode toward Xiuyan Paradise.
Zhang Fengyun had once heard someone say that in a great family of this sort, a man at his stage would forever belong to the generation of grandsons.
Deng Cha and the others had gone to work early, while Jiang Hao, after absorbing the sun’s purple radiance, sat in his room cultivating.
Although Chu Feng had caught General Bi off guard and severed his throat in an instant, that speed was truly terrifying. Even he might not have been able to withstand it.
It was clear that the appearance of this skeleton had surprised Elder Splashed Ink somewhat. Yet considering how rare it was for a spirit to be born within a corpse, it was not particularly strange for the remains of a godlike being to appear here.
Looking at the people gathered there, Li Tianyi nodded in satisfaction. They were all high-ranking members of the Bright Moon Sect, and only Venerable Lianyun had died. That was plainly not enough. If Quan Yingcao, Venerable Broken Sword, and the others all died here as well, then that would be a true victory.
Lin Yi was momentarily stunned, then found it rather amusing. A golden carriage drawn by eight blood-red heavenly dragons naturally traveled at astonishing speed.
“No one knows how powerful the Heavenly Emperor truly is. I can only tell you this: even if all the saints attacked together, they still could not do anything to my Emperor.” Ran Deng spoke with reverence.
Her melon-seed face was delicate and lovely. Her hair was black as ink, tied into a beautiful ponytail that streamed straight behind her in the wind. My first impression of her was one of purity—a striking contrast to the two fellows beside her.
Seeing Lin Yi looking so full of vigor, Feng Lin, Donglin Ye, Zifei Yu, and the others exchanged smiles.
Xue Sisi wanted to explain that she had no relationship whatsoever with Wei Zijie. But the words hovered at her lips and, in the end, never came out, dissolving instead into a blush that spread across her face.
They assumed only that the Nine Severed Divine Cult had moved most of its treasures away before its great retreat. No one could have guessed that Lin Yi would emerge as the greatest winner this time.
At Jiang Yuan’s words, the big bird let out a low growl. Jiang Yuan could only smile bitterly inwardly. That foul-mouthed bird truly never missed an opportunity to cause him trouble.
After agreeing to cooperate, the two could not wait to leave the manor. As for whether anyone had survived there, they did not care in the slightest.
Xia Chuan and Yuzu simply sat there with Atsushi Murasakibara, hardly speaking at all, because neither of them knew what they ought to talk about.
