Chapter 33: After Fei Jing Got Drunk...
"Found a new lover and want to leave me?" Fei Jing was heavily intoxicated.
Lu Tian continued folding the clothes in her hands, not even lifting her head as she replied, "Shouldn't you be off comforting Lu Youyou?"
Overnight, Lu Youyou's reputation had been completely dragged through the mud. Even Lu Zhi had sent her successive messages insulting and threatening her, warning that if she didn't return the job to the second young lady of the Lu family, she wouldn't have an easy time of it either.
"Lu Youyou! Lu Youyou! Lu Tian, I have absolutely nothing to do with her! You’ve always been the one letting your imagination run wild!" Fei Jing’s steps were unsteady. He pointed at her nose and gave a bitter laugh. "It’s Li Yanchen, right? Ha, Lu Tian, I finally get it. You, the pampered eldest daughter of the Lu family—do you just have a fetish for poor boys?"
"Fei Jing, you're drunk. I don't want to tangle with you. Please get out!"
Every word spoken to a drunkard was a waste of breath. Lu Tian stood up, intending to open the door, but Fei Jing slammed his fist against the wall beside her with a vicious thud. The plaster flaked off, leaving a dark, gaping hole that seemed to exhale a bone-chilling cold.
She gritted her teeth, suppressing her panic. "Fei Jing, what exactly do you want?"
"Wife, be a good girl, okay? Give the job back to Lu Youyou. Just be your quiet Mrs. Fei. I’ll provide for you for the rest of my life, and I’ll love you forever."
The man pressed in on her, his hand snaking beneath the hem of her shirt, tugging at her bra strap. The familiarity of that desire made Lu Tian tremble uncontrollably. She pushed him away with all her might, screaming, "Fei Jing, I don't want to! You are not allowed to touch me! I..."
*Slap!* Fei Jing struck his own face.
"..."
He dropped to his knees, clutching her thighs in a display of pathetic, helpless desperation as he wept. "Wife, I’m so tired. I love you, I love you so much, but why must you always work against me?"
"Fei Jing, do you really love me? Can you swear that you have never done anything to betray or hurt me?"
Lu Tian looked at his handsome face, now swollen and red, and caught a fleeting flash of panic and guilt in his eyes. She sneered and turned her head away to hide the tears welling in her eyes. "Heaven sees what men do. Sooner or later, Fei Jing, you will truly lose me."
"Wife..."
The way she addressed him as "classmate Fei Jing" left him so ashamed that he fled in a panic. Lu Tian watched as he stumbled out of the estate. On her phone, the man sent a voice message: *—[Wife, I love you. For this life, for all lives to come. I swear, I only love you.]*
And the way he "loved" her was by slipping away from his wife to be with his mistress, engaging in debauchery and having the time of his life. Lu Youyou would send live updates via photos as a matter of routine.
She mocked: *[Sister, care to guess what my husband just told me?]*
Fei Jing had said, "Lu Tian makes men feel too much pressure. She’s fine to be worshipped like a goddess, but she’s not meant for pleasure." He had also added, "I’ve spoiled her so much that she can’t handle the hardships of the real world. A job? Ha, she’ll be crying and begging to come back to be a housewife within three days."
That night, Lu Tian turned off her phone and slept soundly.
However, when Fei Jing returned after his "fun," he found the walk-in closet empty, save for his own clothes. His heart skipped a beat, then plummeted.
The next morning was Lu Tian’s first day back at the Air Traffic Management Bureau. She had missed the sweet porridge from the Jinggang International Airport canteen, so she woke up early, put on her uniform, and prepared to leave.
Passing the master bedroom, she saw VIP service staff from various brands moving in and out of the closet. Rows of seasonal limited-edition items were being hung up. Even the Hermès bags were there in every collection and every colorway...
"Madam, you're awake? Sir had business to attend to at the company and left before dawn. But he left you a surprise."
Nanny Zhao, a stout and tactless woman, dragged Lu Tian inside regardless of her protests. The brand representatives stood in a row, bowing in perfect unison. "Good morning, Mrs. Fei."
"Madam, Sir said you packed away all your old clothes, and he was afraid you didn't like them, so he had people prepare new ones overnight."
They held up pieces of clothing worth tens of thousands against her. Lu Tian maintained a flat expression. "Show me the shopping receipts."
For high-end luxury goods, whether it was second-hand resale or returns, the name on the receipt had to match the owner's. The documents presented to her were indeed expensive, but without exception, the name signed in the signature column was Fei Jing’s.
"Madam, Sir said that what is his is yours; it doesn't matter whose name is on it," Nanny Zhao said with a sycophantic smile.
Lu Tian chuckled. "Indeed. Leaving his wife with nothing in her own name—Mr. Fei truly loves me enough, doesn't he?"
Looking at Lu Youyou, on the other hand, the results from Lawyer Wang’s investigation showed that in less than a month, Fei Jing had transferred two large luxury apartments in Jinggang and an overseas villa to her. That wasn't even counting the luxury goods the girl bought at will using his black card.
"Comparisons are odious, Nanny Zhao. You’d better start preparing to welcome the future new mistress."
She dropped the words coldly and walked away. But just as she reached the door, Lu Tian leaned against the frame, turned back with a brilliant smile, and added, "Though, whether your Mr. Fei will even have the right to live here by then is another matter entirely."
In the chairman’s office at the Fei Group, Fei Jing watched the surveillance footage of the estate and, in a fit of shame-induced rage, knocked over an ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts. The flying sparks burned Lu Youyou, who gritted her teeth. She leaned into the man's arms, enduring the pain to pour oil on the fire. "Husband, sister is too spoiled. You treat her so well, and she still dares to curse you?"
On the opposite sofa, Chen Yi sat with his legs spread, offering a well-meaning reminder: "If you actually divorce, Lu Tian is legally entitled to half the assets. Don't take that lightly."
"Impossible." The man’s voice was cold and menacing.
Lu Youyou raised an eyebrow, curious. "Husband, you haven't already made plans, have you?"
"That has nothing to do with you." He swiped her away with a wave of his hand, confident. "Tian-tian can't live without me. She's just throwing a tantrum; after a while, she’ll learn to behave."
"And what if she doesn't?" Chen Yi asked, eager to stir up trouble.
Fei Jing stood in the shadows, the light from his cigar flickering between his fingers. He sneered, "Chen Yi, I’ve loved taming disobedient wild dogs since I was a child. Remember that?"
Before the words had even faded, the other two people in the office fell deathly silent, breaking out in a cold sweat.
At Jinggang International Airport, in the control tower, Lu Tian had just sat down at her workstation when a succession of languages from various countries filled her headset.
"United 366, welcome home, Lu. Requesting departure, please direct."
"Air France 1786, welcome home, Lu. Requesting departure, please direct."
"Jinghang 290, welcome home, Teacher Lu. Requesting departure, please direct..."
It turned out that no matter how long she had been gone, her colleagues still remembered her. Her eyes brimmed with warmth.
The morning’s work was busy and fulfilling. But during the lunch break, a young intern from the tower ran in, panicked, and shouted at Lu Tian: "Teacher Lu, something’s happened! A huge disaster!!!"
On the remote tarmac, two men of striking appearance were locked in a desperate, life-or-death brawl...
