Chapter 32: Lu Tian, Take It Back!!!
"Captain Li doesn't want a woman's money, yet he has a penchant for sneakily following women?"
Lu Tian’s tone was sharp. The irritation she had suffered at the hands of Fei Jing was still burning like a wildfire in her chest. Several times, she had felt the urge to pull out her phone and call the police to have him arrested. But as she calmed down slightly, she realized she had no proof.
Li Yanchen watched her ferocious expression and suddenly laughed.
"Are you sick?" Lu Tian spat.
"Do you dare to go somewhere with me?" His attitude was provocative. He deliberately added, "Someone who isn't even afraid of death—would she be afraid of a man with ulterior motives who has been stalking her for a long time?"
Silence fell for a moment. The next second, Lu Tian opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. Li Yanchen was taken aback by her straightforwardness.
The car started and headed toward the ring road. On the way, Lu Tian suddenly turned to look at him. "Don't you find it strange? You always appear at my worst moments. Does this prove that you’re my jinx?"
"Ms. Lu, is this how you thank someone for saving your life?" The man handed her a latte with five pumps of syrup.
She took it, took a sip, and frowned. "How did you know I like sweet things when I’m upset?" It was the kind of cloying sweetness that most normal people couldn't handle. If it were Fei Jing, he would have stopped her and lectured her about not taking care of her health.
Li Yanchen shrugged and tapped his own head. "It must be a special ability exclusive to a jinx."
*Pfft!*
"Hahaha—" She was easily amused by him.
Lu Tian couldn't help but be curious. "At the hospital, the doctors and nurses all said you were a man of few words. Why are you such a chatterbox in front of me? You’ve lost all the mystery that a handsome man should have."
"Ms. Lu, is there a possibility that I am sick? And that I only have symptoms when I’m around you?"
The car stopped at an abandoned small airport. He got out and quickly walked around to the passenger side to open the door. Standing at over 1.88 meters, his tall, straight figure bent over, casting a powerful, intimidating shadow that loomed over her.
Lu Tian did not like having intimate contact with people she didn't know, especially men. She coughed, pushed him away, and warned, "I have no interest in being a mistress, and I have no fondness for married men!"
"Then why did Ms. Lu dare to get into a married man's car?"
Li Yanchen reached out from behind, grabbed her slender arm, spun her around, and pressed her against the car body. The two were so close that their heated breaths became ambiguously intertwined.
Lu Tian struggled, growling, "Li Yanchen, let me go!" She had only gotten into the car because she had a momentary lapse in judgment and was provoked by this jerk.
"Shh, Ms. Lu. Fei Jing cheated on you during your marriage. Don't you want to try the pleasure of getting revenge on him?" His fingers, well-defined and with neatly trimmed tips, slowly and unhurriedly traced her delicate cheek.
Surprisingly, it felt strangely pleasant... Lu Tian was lost in thought. But the last shred of her dignity as a married woman made her strike back with a slap. Li Yanchen’s neck snapped to the side, and he retreated while clutching his face, offering a wry smile.
"Do you still love him? Do you want to stay chaste for him?"
"Li Yanchen, are all you men the same? You don't care once you've married her, and you think the grass is always greener on the other side?" She thought of that poor woman in the hospital who had started sacrificing herself for this man right after graduating from high school. But in the end? They were all the same—all left with nothing, all becoming the most pathetic jokes.
"Take me back, or I’ll call the police and report you for kidnapping!" Lu Tian felt nothing but utter disgust for Li Yanchen at this moment.
However, the man she despised had a thick skin. Without warning, he hoisted her onto his shoulder and carried her toward the airport’s control tower.
"Li Yanchen, have you lost your mind? Put me down, I—"
"Lu Tian, don't just talk about others. Look at this place, look at the 'battlefield' you once loved with your soul!" Li Yanchen unceremoniously threw the screaming Lu Tian onto the floor.
Thick dust billowed into the air. She choked and coughed repeatedly, but it brought a moment of clarity to her chaotic and heavy mind.
The man stood above her, gesturing toward the long-defunct control console. "In your first year after graduating from the University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, you were the only outstanding intern to be successfully hired."
"In two years of work, you encountered three '7100' emergency calls. Lu Tian, it was you who kept your cool in the face of danger and saved every passenger and crew member time and time again."
Those glorious moments—the highlights that Fei Jing had sneered at and forced into obscurity—seemed to come alive again through Li Yanchen's words.
Lu Tian’s eyes were blurred with tears, her head hung low, and her frail body trembled as she whispered to herself. She was choking, breaking down, cowardly and weak. "Stop it, I beg you, please stop..."
Once upon a time, she had been a proud daughter of heaven standing in the sunlight. Under Fei Jing’s calculated schemes, she had gradually faded and sunk into hell!
"Lu Tian, stand up. No one can block your path forward."
"You are smart, talented, and still young. As long as you are willing, everything has a chance to return to the way it was!" Li Yanchen grabbed her shoulders, forced her to stand up using his support, and then spun her around three hundred and sixty degrees.
The familiar air traffic control tower. The memories of her burning passion reignited in her mind, blazing once more. He leaned against her ear and asked, "Do you want to come back?"
"I do."
"Then don't be afraid of anything. Go back and take back the opportunities Fei Jing stole from you!"
An hour later, in the office of Director General Liu.
"Tian, what are you and your husband doing? Was Lu Youyou really recommended by you?"
Lu Tian handed over a job application form, her smile steady and elegant, just as it had been back then. She shook her head. "Fei Jing and I are in the process of getting a divorce, but there are many issues regarding asset division. Before we completely sever ties, I hope the Director General will not speak of this matter."
The implication was clear: Lu Youyou was nothing but a shameful mistress. Fei Jing was a cheating man who had tricked and used his own wife to stir up trouble!
"OK, Tian. I was the one who brought you into this industry; I’m practically your mentor. Don't worry, whoever dares to bully you, your mentor will be the first to disagree."
Within ten minutes of leaving the office, the Jinggang Air Traffic Control Bureau first published the list of newly introduced talent. Then, they held an online press conference to publicly criticize certain corrupt practices.
"It is heartbreaking to see capitalism erode and persecute our fair and just talent selection mechanism."
"Therefore, I have decided to publicly announce that Ms. Lu Youyou has engaged in recruitment fraud. She is blacklisted from the entire industry and will not be hired."
"The Chairman of the Fei Group attempted to bribe us by donating radar equipment; our bureau will return every piece, and we will no longer cooperate."
All ongoing projects with them were also abruptly halted.
At the Fei Group headquarters, Fei Jing was surrounded by the old foxes on the board of directors, being torn to shreds.
"Fei Jing, I only invested in the Fei Group because I saw you were young and promising, but this time you’ve directly offended the Jinggang Air Traffic Control Bureau. Do you know how much this will cost us?"
"That’s right! Our stock has been hitting the limit down, and the NASDAQ listing process has been completely frozen!"
In short, someone was reaping what they had sown, and the losses were catastrophic.
Night fell over the Fei family estate. Lu Tian was in the walk-in closet of the master bedroom, packing her luggage. The countdown was still ticking; she had to be prepared to leave this place at any time.
*Bang!* The bedroom door was forcefully kicked open from the outside.
