Chapter Three: When People Are Too Difficult, It’s Quite Tedious
Screech! The car slammed on the brakes.
Immediately after, the door lock clicked open.
Fei Jing sounded a bit anxious. “Honey, there might really be an urgent matter at the company that I need to handle in person. Don’t overthink it. I’ll come see Nan Nan with you a bit later.”
“Okay.”
See, once a man’s heart is divided, no matter how many vows of eternal love he makes, they mean nothing—completely meaningless.
Lu Tian got off the car as she wished, hailed a taxi, and left without looking back, all in one smooth motion.
The Rolls-Royce worth millions paused briefly by the roadside before speeding away.
Inside the car.
Fei Jing wore a Bluetooth earpiece, growling low, “Didn’t we have her undergo sterilization? How is she pregnant? Bunch of incompetents, get to Dongcheng Villa immediately!”
An hour later.
Inside Jiahe Law Firm, one of the top in Jinggang.
“Miss Lu, if you want Mr. Fei to leave the marriage with nothing, you’ll need to obtain proof of your marital assets before we draft the divorce agreement.”
“No other way?” Lu Tian’s temperament wouldn’t allow her to dawdle.
Attorney Wang hesitated, then said, “The only way is to have Mr. Fei sign a share confirmation letter. Since he’s currently chairman of Fei Group, this is the only way to confirm the proportion of shares you own.”
But doing so would surely raise alarm.
Jiahe specializes in divorce cases for wealthy couples.
No matter how affectionate a couple once was, when it comes to splitting assets, they become ruthless and merciless.
“Give me one week.”
Leaving the office building, Lu Tian reached the elevator lobby and saw an all-too-familiar figure.
Her eldest brother, Lu Zhi, who regarded her like a plague and hated her intensely.
At this moment, he was tenderly embracing a girl, his words brimming with care and affection. “Youyou, today I officially had the family lawyer draft the name-change agreement. Soon, you’ll rightfully become the Lu family’s second young lady!”
“But, Big Brother, will Sister Tian Tian agree? Actually, I’m not in a hurry—after all, she’s your real sister, I…”
Her words trailed off as Lu Youyou lowered her head, tears falling onto the shining floor, her expression pitiful.
Softly choking on her sobs.
The moment Lu Zhi heard Lu Tian’s name, his brow furrowed deeply, dripping with sarcasm. “That jinx—just mentioning her brings bad luck! She killed our parents. If it weren’t for your father’s heroic sacrifice, she’d have died in that car accident.”
Lu Youyou’s father had pulled their parents’ bodies from the burning wreckage—a deed that moved thirteen-year-old Lu Zhi to tears of gratitude back then.
Later, they learned that the savior had a daughter who was sent to an orphanage, and they never stopped searching for her.
“But…” Lu Youyou obediently began.
Lu Zhi cut her off. “She caused you to lose your family and become an orphan, suffering all these years. That’s a debt Lu Tian owes you. She has no right to disagree!”
“Besides,” his tone abruptly softened, and he smiled warmly at Lu Youyou, “You’re pregnant with Fei Jing’s child now. Sooner or later, you’ll be Madam Fei. Lu Tian will be nothing but a fallen woman. What do you have to fear from her?”
As the elevator doors closed, their laughter and conversation were completely cut off.
So her own blood brother—her closest kin—already knew about her husband’s affair.
And what did Lu Zhi do?
He brought the mistress home and wanted her to take the Lu surname, becoming the family’s second young lady!
Ugh!
Lu Tian stormed into the restroom like a lunatic.
Blood mixed with stomach acid poured out of her mouth in waves, freely and without restraint.
Her delicate palms clenched so tightly on the sharp metal sink edge that white flesh turned outward, raw and wounded.
Did it hurt?
It seemed numb.
A message from an unknown number arrived again.
—“Ugly hag, I know you just saw everything.”
—“How does it feel to be stabbed in the back by your own brother, whom you’ve been secretly supporting all these years?”
—“What to do? The two men you worked so hard to raise—one’s slept in my bed, and the other treats me like a treasured jewel.”
—“And you? Haha, a worthless nobody. Just die!”
At the end was a video.
At an eastern suburb villa, Fei Jing, accompanied by a whole team of obstetricians, marched in grandly.
—“Sister Tian Tian, look how much my husband loves me and the baby. Jealous? Hee hee hee~”
Ugh!
Another mouthful of fresh blood.
Exhausted, Lu Tian collapsed stiffly onto the filthy floor of the public restroom.
Outside, someone sneered and locked the door.
“Daring to bully the Lu family’s second young lady, the future Madam Fei! That bitch must have a heart of steel—so shameless!”
“Hmph, lock her in here for a day and a night. A homewrecker like her deserves to be locked up with filth!”
Lu Tian gritted her teeth, enduring the side effects of her anticancer medication, rolling over and inching toward her phone, which had been thrown aside.
Her elbows scraped the floor, tearing open bloody wounds.
The sewage stung like thousands of ants gnawing at her bones, pain so intense it could kill.
She wanted to dial 120 and call the police.
Malicious assault! Lu Youyou was truly a complete legal illiterate.
But just then, Fei Jing called.
By mistake, the call connected.
The man’s anxious voice was full of guilt and unease. “Honey, things at the company are tricky. I probably can’t come back tonight. In a few days, I’ll definitely go see our…”
“Fei Jing, I’m dying!”
A moment of despair, like a trapped beast trying to break free from a cage that had imprisoned her entire life.
Her brain began to starve for oxygen; her vision blurred, unable to see a single corner clearly.
On the other end, Fei Jing was unusually silent.
After a while, he sighed deeply. “Tian Tian, Nan Nan is gone. I’m as heartbroken as you are, but living with all this drama is exhausting.”
“I’m dramatic?” Lu Tian bitterly smiled.
Soon, a young girl’s delicate whimper came through the background, “Wuwu, Brother Fei, my stomach hurts so much, ah! There’s bleeding down there. It’s all your fault for being so rough in the car just now. You hurt the baby.”
“Don’t make a sound. If Tian Tian hears you, you’re dead meat!” the man warned, muffling the phone.
Lu Tian gritted her teeth, summoning her last ounce of strength to upload the call recording to the cloud as evidence of Fei Jing’s betrayal.
Her survival instinct urged her to call for help again.
But the other side spoke first. “Tian Tian, I probably won’t be back tonight. Have Aunt Wang warm the ginseng soup I left in the fridge for you. Make sure you eat dinner—you have a weak stomach. Don’t make me worry.”
With that, the line went dead with a few busy signals.
The phone also warned of low battery and shut down automatically.
