Chapter 25: Is Lu Tian Cheating...?
The sudden, violent rainstorm caused the scheduled return to the pier to be indefinitely delayed. Many vessels operating at sea vanished without a trace beneath waves several meters high. Local news began broadcasting the list of casualties.
Fei Jing, not even bothering to dress properly, rushed to the television, his body still marked with love bites, his heart racing with panic. The sea burial company called to inquire, "Hello, is Miss Lu reachable? We have lost contact with the speedboat."
"Why did you let her board that boat alone? The mourners hadn't even arrived; by what authority did you set sail?" His roar was deafening.
The staff member replied innocently, "W-well, Miss Lu said her husband had been involved in an accident, robbed and shot to death, so... so we just..."
Dead?
How could his sweet, loving Tian-tian tell such a cruel lie? Fei Jing refused to believe it and slammed the phone down.
Lu Youyou, wearing nothing, clung to him, cooing softly, "Husband, big sister is blessed and fortunate; she will surely be fine."
"She will be fine? Lu Youyou, why weren't you the one on that boat, hmm?!"
The man struck her with immense force, a slap delivered without reservation. As she crashed into the sofa, she instinctively shielded her stomach, terrified, wanting only to shrink back to the bedroom upstairs.
On the news, the death toll continued to climb. Fei Jing grabbed Lu Youyou by her hair, forcing her to kneel before the television, and hissed a vicious command: "Stay here and watch. If anything happens to Tian-tian, Lu Youyou, I will ensure that both you and the child in your womb are destroyed!"
In his mind, his failure to accompany Lu Tian to their daughter's funeral was entirely the fault of this seductress. President Fei could never be wrong!
"Prepare the car, go to the pier immediately. Find a way to contact the local authorities. No matter what, I must find my wife!"
The castle was in total chaos. Lu Youyou’s face was swollen, her lip bitten until it tasted of blood. Her eyes were wet, yet she stubbornly held her head high, refusing to let a single tear fall.
On WeChat, an account labeled "Mother" sent several messages in succession.
—"Youyou, Ah Hao is dead, and we have to accept it. The Fei Group has provided compensation; this is the best outcome."
—"You cannot fight against the tide. Fei Jing loves his wife so much that even if the accident was caused by Lu Tian’s mistake, the capital will cover up the truth for her!"
—"Do not ruin your life for revenge. Come home, please? Ah Hao is gone; Mother only has you left."
Rumble!
Purple lightning tore through the thick clouds, casting an eerie light on Lu Youyou’s face, which usually wore a coquettish mask. At this moment, her expression was one of profound disdain and irony, deep enough to dissolve her very soul.
"Love? Mom, compared to my love for Ah Hao, the affection between Fei Jing and Lu Tian is truly worthless!"
The storm continued. On a nameless island, Lu Tian was soaked to the bone, suffering from a relentless high fever. In her delirium, she felt a familiar yet strangely foreign male voice whispering endlessly in her ear.
"Hello, approach tower, North Air 6388 requesting entry into airspace."
"Turn left to heading 144, maintain current altitude."
"Air traffic control's primary rule: bring the passengers home safely."
"I swear that I am committed to maintaining airspace security and ensuring that the life and property of every passenger remain unharmed..."
From basic guidance to professional knowledge, that voice continuously tugged at her nerves, preventing her from recklessly surrendering to the endless darkness!
Until the rescue team arrived.
He told her, "Tian-tian, come back. Return to the stage you once promised to light up, return to the brilliant life that truly belongs to you!"
Beep, beep, beep—
"Oh no, this gentleman suffered a systemic temperature imbalance to keep the lady warm, and his heart has stopped."
"Waaah, Daddy! Please, save my daddy!"
"Administer adrenaline, initiate defibrillation."
"One, two, three, clear!"
On the rescue helicopter, the semi-conscious Lu Tian struggled to extend her frozen, stiff fingers. She reached out to him, whispering unconsciously, "Live, Brother Yan-chen..."
"God, his heartbeat has returned! Thank goodness!"
Two days later, Lu Tian regained consciousness. The doctor performing the check-up praised Fei Jing incessantly, "Mrs. Fei, during the two days you were in a coma, Mr. Fei never left your side. Once, when you had excess phlegm and couldn't breathe, and the aspirator malfunctioned, he performed mouth-to-mouth suction for you himself. It moved several of our nurses to tears."
The doctor spoke with great emotion. Lu Tian remained cold, indifferent. "Is that so? Did Mr. Fei also tell you that for his own interests, he watched as his daughter's ashes were..."
"That's enough. My wife has just woken up; she needs quiet rest. You may all leave." Fei Jing interrupted her.
He must be feeling guilty.
The doctor and nurses left, and silence descended upon the ornately decorated VIP suite. After a long while, the man sighed heavily and handed her a photograph. "Tian-tian, I am sorry about the little one. I had no other choice, but that is not an excuse for you to be overly intimate with another man, is it?"
In the photo, Lu Tian was holding the hand of the heart-stopped Li Yanchen. Vague, blurry memories began to take shape.
"Is it him?" The man who had saved her time and again!
Fei Jing rubbed his temples, tore the photo into pieces, and threw it into the trash. "A mere pilot—his proximity to you is nothing more than an attempt to skip ten years of hard work. Tian-tian, I love you. For you, I can endure anything, but this—this I cannot!"
"So, Fei Jing, are you trying to tell me that you’ve caught me in the act of adultery?" Lu Tian was almost amused by her own words.
The two remained in a stalemate. He shook his head and stroked her silky hair with feigned affection. "I trust your judgment; you wouldn't fall for a pretty boy. But, wife, stop being so difficult. You cannot leave me; we have a lifetime to spend together. You don't want to keep struggling like this, do you?"
A threat?
She really couldn't be bothered to waste any more energy on this pathetic excuse for a human being.
"Fine. Do whatever you want, President Fei. I am exhausted; I want to sleep."
Her response was dismissive. Fei Jing’s thin lips parted, as if he wanted to say more.
Then, Fei’s mother called, furious, "Fei Jing, Youyou is having stomach pains! Where are you? Come back immediately, or I will let the whole world know how you actually came into this world!"
He left in a heartbeat. Lu Tian sneered, finally finding a moment of peace.
A moment later, a caregiver delivered a necklace and a note. The note read: *Let the little one accompany you; you will be braver.*
The vigorous, powerful handwriting was unmistakable. Inside the pendant was the milky-white ash of her daughter.
Panicked, she grabbed the caregiver, asking, "Where is he? Where is the person who asked you to bring these?"
"He has been discharged."
"Discharged...?"
By the time Lu Tian returned to Jinggang, Li Yanchen had not appeared again.
At Jiahe Law Firm, Attorney Wang shared some news, "Miss Lu, we have no information on the Mrs. Li you mentioned, but tonight at the Junyue Club, President Fei is meeting an intermediary who is rumored to have connections to the head of the Nordic Li family—who also happens to be named Li."
Night fell. At the Junyue Club, just as Lu Tian reached the entrance of the private room Fei Jing had booked, she saw him with his arm around Lu Youyou’s shoulders, introducing her: "President Li, this is my wife, Lu Youyou."
